Summary You will serve as a DATA SCIENTIST in the ENGINEERING & PRODUCTION ENABLEMENT BRANCH within the UNDERSEA WEAPONS DEPARTMENT of NAVAL UNDERSEA WARFARE CENTER, DIVISION KEYPORT, WASHINGTON (NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV KEYPORT WA). Responsibilities You will develop algorithms and formulas to compute system and component performance in terms of reliability, maintainability, and availability, projecting operational results using models for business processes, research, and statistics. You will analyze complex data, draw conclusions, and recommend changes in procedures, processes, or data gathering techniques, including value stream development and cost estimation using standard methodologies. You will identify and analyze elements affecting project costs, develop models and simulations, and optimize processes to support system design, development, operation, maintenance, and disposal. You will propose new methods, policies, and practices; write reports recommending corrective actions; and develop long-range performance goals consistent with regulations, directives, and quality initiatives. You will provide project management, including planning, coordination, charter production, scheduling, status reporting, and ensuring projects complete on time and within budget; advise on operational efficiency and value stream analysis. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialize experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: As a professional scientist analyzing data to develop algorithms or models for system performance; conducting statistical analysis or cost estimation to support process improvements; applying mathematical or scientific methods to optimize operations or value streams; preparing reports or recommendations on technical findings; and collaborating with teams on project planning or efficiency initiatives.
