Description We are looking for a motivated Accounting Assistant to join a reputable construction firm in New York, New York. This Contract-to-permanent position offers a unique opportunity to work closely with experienced professionals, gaining hands-on experience in essential accounting practices within the construction industry. Ideal for individuals early in their accounting career, this role provides exposure to diverse financial tasks and systems.

Responsibilities:

Perform reconciliations, including accounts payable and receivable transactions.

Prepare and review invoices related to construction projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Support the finance team with journal entries and month-end closing activities.

Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks and project management platforms like Ebuilder.

Collaborate with team members to maintain efficiency and accurate financial records.

Assist with coding invoices and resolving discrepancies as needed.

Conduct bank reconciliations to ensure proper accounting of financial transactions.

Contribute to maintaining organized and up-to-date documentation of accounting processes. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred.

Familiarity with accounting concepts such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software like QuickBooks.

Strong attention to detail and a proactive attitude toward learning.

Previous internship or office experience in an accounting environment is advantageous.

Interest in construction accounting or related industries is a plus.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented setting.
