The Capital Markets arm of CIBC provides integrated capital markets products, investment banking advisory services, corporate lending and top-ranked research to corporate, government, institutional and retail clients around the world. Our goal is to be a leading Capital Markets franchise in North America and the lead relationship bank for key clients globally. CIBC Capital Markets consists of three lines of business; Global Markets, Global Investment Banking and Corporate Banking.
What You'll Be Doing
The Analyst will be responsible for providing corporate credit analysis and transactional support within specific industries and product groups across Corporate Banking. The Analyst will work on credit analysis, financial modeling, conduct due diligence on new transactions and present proposed transactions to management and credit risk management. In addition to conducting due diligence, the analyst will also be responsible for understanding the company, industry, regulatory issues, relevant economic/political trends, to help tailor coverage and financing solutions to meet client needs. The candidate will interface with internal product groups and assist in creating marketing materials. The Analyst will also be responsible for on-going monitoring, including annual reviews, re-ratings of booked assets as well as portfolio reporting. Analysts work on a dedicated vertical within the Corporate Bank such as Consumer, Industrial and Telecom, Project Finance and Infrastructure, Power and Utilities, NBFI, Syndications, and Leveraged Finance.

How You'll Succeed
Draft and prepare pitch books with detailed industry materials and comprehensive corporate finance analyses
Perform financial modeling, valuation, comparable and relative value analyses
Conduct due diligence on new transactions
Prepare internal screening and credit memos
Present proposed transaction to management and credit group
Assist in closing transactions, including managing external consultants, advisors and legal counsel
Assist in the development and continued cultivation of client relationships
Ability to effectively aggregate and synthesize data from a variety of platforms
Support the ongoing monitoring of credit relationships by conducting credit analysis and preparing credit reviews
Ensure that recommendation and opinions offered to clients are in compliance with legislation and at all times maintains the professional standards and policies of CIBC
Interface with internal product groups, including rates, commodities, debt capital markets, and investment banking
Assist in identifying new clients
Collect, assemble and analyze market data
Who You Are
Graduate with a degree in Business, Economics, Finance or related discipline (Graduation date of May 2026)
Fundamental understanding of Corporate Finance theories and practices, well-developed financial analysis skills, including financial modeling
Well-developed organizational skills in order to respond to shifting priorities on several simultaneous projects
Strong ability to manage internal relationships within CIBC Capital Markets and across the broader organization
Well-developed interpersonal, presentation, oral and written communication in order to convey factual and conceptual information to others and promote the interests of CIBC Capital Markets
Ability to operate Microsoft Office software, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Ability to work well and excel in a team environment
Ability to think commercially about the needs of the client
Demonstrated job commitment including a willingness to work extended hours and personal flexibility and adaptability in order to meet client requirements
The successful candidate will be flexible to work hours as needed to help deliver a great client experience, which may include evenings and weekends.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $115,000 for the New York, NY market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit's incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component. CIBC offers a full range of benefits and programs to meet our employee's needs; including Medical, Dental, Vision, Health Savings Account, Life Insurance, Disability, and Other Insurance Plans, Paid Time Off (including Sick Leave, Parental Leave, and Vacation), Holidays, and 401(k), in addition to other special perks reserved for our team members.
