Koniag Information Technology Services (KITS), a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Unified Communications Engineer I to support our Army customer in Huntsville, Alabama. This position requires on-site presence in Huntsville, Alabama.

The Unified Communications Engineer I will be responsible for supporting the global UC/VTC network that provides Telepresence, videoconferencing, and teleconference services to Army enterprise customers worldwide. This on-site role will focus on providing engineering support for the management, configuration, installation, and maintenance of the Army Materiel Command's (AMC) state-of-the-art Unified Communications and Video Teleconferencing (UC/VTC) network. The ideal candidate will have experience with enterprise-level UC systems, video conferencing technologies, and security compliance in a DoD environment.
Principal responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Provide engineering support for UC/VTC systems and infrastructure
Develop solutions to complex problems in H.323 and Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) systems
Deliver top-level support for telepresence and video conferencing technologies
Provide operational support and performance analysis of global collaborative services
Ensure supporting infrastructure is stable, reliable, and optimized
Maintain, configure, upgrade, and manage all UC/VTC infrastructure components including:
Cisco Meeting Servers
Video Communication Servers
Multipoint Control Units
Gatekeepers
Call managers
Content servers
Telepresence management suites
CODECS
UC soft-client solutions
Virtualized appliances
Evaluate Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVAs) and security-related updates
Determine security update impacts on the UC environment
Apply firmware updates and patches to mitigate identified vulnerabilities
Implement Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) as defined by AMC ISSO
Follow all security requirements including password management
Assist with and provide input for Risk Management Framework (RMF) accreditation documentation updates
Manage internal dial plans for all associated UC systems
Ensure interoperability with external organizations across DoD and Army
Work with system vendors for advanced troubleshooting
Process Return Material Authorization (RMA) requests as needed
Education and Experience:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
2+ years of experience supporting UC/VTC systems and infrastructure
Experience with Cisco collaboration products and technologies
Background in supporting enterprise communication systems
Knowledge of H.323 and SIP protocols
Required Skills and Competencies:
Experience with Cisco Meeting Servers, Video Communication Servers, or similar platforms
Knowledge of video conferencing infrastructure components and architecture
Understanding of telepresence systems and technologies
Experience configuring and maintaining UC soft-client solutions
Familiarity with virtualized communication appliances
Knowledge of security compliance requirements and vulnerability management
Experience applying firmware updates and patches to communication systems
Understanding of STIG implementation and security compliance
Ability to manage dial plans and ensure system interoperability
Experience with troubleshooting complex UC/VTC issues
Knowledge of network protocols as they relate to real-time communications
Ability to work with vendor technical support for advanced issue resolution
Experience with RMA processes and procedures
Understanding of documentation requirements for government systems
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal
Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances
Willingness to work on-site in Huntsville, Alabama
Desired Skills and Competencies:
Cisco certifications (CCNA Collaboration, CCNP Collaboration, or similar)
Experience working with DoD or Army communication systems
Knowledge of Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes
Familiarity with DoD security requirements and compliance
Experience supporting global, distributed communication environments
Background in network engineering or administration
Knowledge of Quality of Service (QoS) as it applies to real-time communications
Experience with Session Border Controllers (SBCs)
Familiarity with cloud-based collaboration solutions
Understanding of voice and video codecs and optimization
Experience with performance monitoring and analysis tools for UC systems
Knowledge of bandwidth management for video communications
Experience supporting executive-level video conferencing needs
Background in UC system capacity planning
Familiarity with current industry trends in unified communications
