Typical work assignments include: Exercises program direction over the budget process; ensures that resources are effectively and efficiently utilized, and obligations incurred, and expenditure of funds are in accordance with existing laws and regulations. Directs the development, analysis and review of budget estimates and justifications for conformation with regulations, laws, and funding limitations and consistency with current and previous budget years; and provides authoritative recommendations and solutions to management officials on critical budget issues. Provides oversight of subordinate supervisors and other assigned staff responsible for budget administration; and formulates and implements policies, plans, systems, and procedures to manage and continually improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the overall financial management program. Develops financial management goals and objectives and adjusts or redefines goals to meet substantial changes in funding and fluctuations in workload; and conducts evaluations of the staff's responsibilities to determine program accomplishments. Qualifications To be considered qualified for this position you must meet the following qualification requirements for the respective grade level in which you are applying. You qualify for the GS-15 level (starting salary $167,603) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level performing duties such as: Developing and monitoring a budget for an entire organization. Projecting and analyzing potential effects of budgetary actions that impact program viability and the attainment of objectives across an organization. Devising new methods, techniques and controls to improve the management of funds. Analyzing and interpreting complex budget policy. Providing oversight of staff responsible for budget administration.
