About Edinburgh Correctional Facility :

As a part of the Indiana Department of Correction, the Edinburgh Correctional Facility promotes public safety by providing meaningful, effective opportunities for successful re-entry. We strive to model best Correctional practices, return productive citizens to our communities, and inspire a culture of accountability, integrity and professionalism. The Edinburgh Correctional Facility is a minimum security Correctional facility for adult males. Edinburgh Correctional Facility is located in Edinburgh, Indiana. Edinburgh Correctional Facility has work crews supporting Camp Atterbury and other community and state agencies. The goal of the facility is to provide labor support for the military, local community, and other state agencies while also providing incarcerated individuals with programs, education, services, and job assignments that promote self-improvement, growth, and positive change for a successful return to the community.

Role Overview:

The incumbent is responsible for providing counseling and resource information to incarcerated individuals at an Adult Correctional Facility. As with all employees of the Department of Correction, the incumbent's first responsibility is to ensure the safety and security of the facility.

Salary Statement:

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $42,900.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

A Day in the Life:

?The essential functions of this role are as follows:

Provide guidance to offenders on issues such as job assignments, housing changes, facility transfers, and other facility procedures.

Act as a liaison between prospective employers, courts, community, and governmental agencies for the purpose of job development and release adjustment.

Assess each assigned offender's risk and needs utilizing the Indiana Risk Assessment System (IRAS).

Coordinate with all appropriate facility staff to address re-entry and release issues.

Prepare documentation related to an offender's temporary absences and progress reports, including case notes and program referrals over the course of an offender's incarceration.

Coordinate with the classification department staff to make appropriate classification recommendations for offenders.

Conduct unit orientation for newly received offenders.

Adhere to the re-entry policies to ensure all quality assurance job tasks are completed in accordance with policy.

What You'll Need for Success:

You must meet the following requirement to be considered for employment:

Possession of a High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE)

At least one (1) year related work experience in social work, corrections, criminal justice, or related field. Substitutions: Each one (1) year of related education may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.

Within 90 days of hire, you must obtain the Indiana Risk Assessment System Certification through the Indiana Office of Court Services.

Must test negative on all drug screenings.

Upon hire, the ability to successfully complete all mandatory training including?the DOC Training Program, First Aid, and CPR courses.

Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role provides supervision for incarcerated individuals and requires a high level of judgment and care.
