The Senior Data Engineer on our team works with cross-functional teams to build a world-scale data platform that supports community moderation experiences for some of the largest online communities around the globe. You will also collaborate with other teams across Xbox, Microsoft, and the gaming industry to ensure the developed technology complies with legal and regulatory requirements, as well as best practices for online safety and privacy. You will be a peer mentor and role model on the team, fostering a culture of customer focus, collaboration, diversity, and inclusion, and drive technical excellence and innovation.

Responsibilities
Building scalable data pipelines to ingest batch and streaming data in production environments
Solving challenging data storage and serving problems to deliver high performance and efficiency
Providing thought leadership, creation, and execution on data platform capabilities
Creating dashboards to measure effectiveness of processes and systems
Measuring the performance of components and queries to evolve and improve our features
Mentoring other team members on creating high performance data structures and queries
Planning and executing complex, cross-functional projects in partnership with a supportive team of engineers, data scientists, and leaders?

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:?
Master's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years experience in business analytics, data science, software development, data modeling, or data engineering OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years experience in business analytics, data science, software development, data modeling, or data engineering
OR equivalent experience.
3+ years of experience working with cloud-based technologies, including relational databases, data warehouse, big data (e.g., Snowflake, Hadoop, Spark), orchestration/data pipeline tools, data lakes.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Azure Analytics stack, e.g., Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Explorer (Kusto), Azure Cosmos DB, Azure logic apps, Fabric/Power BI
Experience in modern DevOps practices (including Git, CI/CD)
Experience delivering and tuning secure and scalable cloud-based services, data pipelines, storage, and dashboards.
Proficient verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively communicate technical concepts, problems and solutions to a diverse audience.
Experience with Java/Python or similar languages
Experience with AI / Machine Learning, Data Analysis, and/or MLOps (Machine Learning Operations)
Self-motivated and organized to deliver results
Data Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
