The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) is seeking an accomplished Sr. Director of Supply Chain Management to lead strategic initiatives that impact the reliability, efficiency, and future direction of Metro¿s operations. This senior leader will partner with executive leadership and key stakeholders to align organizational goals, drive innovation, and oversee critical supply chain planning and analytics. Minimum Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Finance, Supply Chain, or Engineering
Experience
A minimum of twelve (12) years experience in Operations, Vendor Management, Maintenance Planning, Distribution Operations, Finance or Supply Chain Planning; experience must include a minimum 8 years experience in a management capacity within a maintenance/repair or transportation management operation
Excellent understanding of supply chain operation processes including demand planning in Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO), sales, operations planning and supply planning
Demonstrated experience successfully implementing large scale Supply Chain transformation strategies
Certification/Licensure

Master's degree in MBA, Master of Science, or Master's Engineering

Job Summary
The Senior Director, Supply Chain Management leads Metro's Supply Chain organization, which includes the management of Bus and Rail Materials/Supplies, Facilities Materials and Warehousing, and Supply Chain Planning and Analytics departments. The incumbent ensures the successful transformation and overall management of the materials and supplies organization, including the Supply Chain Planning and Analytics team, along with ongoing customer service to all the daily maintenance repair Operations. The incumbent engages with executive leaders on recurring performance reviews and with other vendor and internal management to resolve extensive operational challenges. The incumbent directs the Supply Chain Planning and Analytics team in the delivery of reliable forecasts and issues mitigation, presentation of business updates to senior leadership, delivery of supply chain performance reports, and evaluation of the effectiveness of Metro's Supply Chain Management organization.
Essential Functions
Identifies and directly translates strategic objectives into executable supply chain models, including standardized processes, metrics, and automation frameworks with direct relation to supply chain support of service delivery.
Champions a customer-centric approach by establishing service standards, monitoring performance metrics, and driving continuous improvement to exceed operational service goals.
Designs and leads WMATA's Supply Chain Management operation. Ensures the organizational structure enhances customer service, product delivery, and product availability for the maintenance repair operation on daily basis, improving asset availability while reducing the material and supply cost and improves planning and purchasing practices.
Partners with Operations leadership, key stakeholders, and supply chain staff to ensure the organization supports the BUS/RAIL parts and other parts maintenance and repair operations. Serves as the chair of the cross- functional Supply Chain Management Governance Committee.
Identifies inefficiencies and lead lean initiatives to improve cost, speed, and quality across all supply chain functions.
Develops proactive mitigation strategies for supply chain disruptions, compliance issues, and geopolitical risks.
Leads the enhancement of the parts planning processes, material and procurement practices and the organizational/workforce structuring of the supply chain operation. Implements practices aimed at reducing material, supply and other expenditures, as well as the annual operations budget associated with the supply chain operation.
Drives the adoption of supply chain technology platforms and digital tools to enhance visibility, control, and reporting. Facilitates the preparation and delivery of supply chain reporting for use by executive leadership, performance management, budget reporting, maintenance and repair, and Supply Chain Management teams. Provides accurate analytics reporting, financials, and other data to support supply chain improvement, materials and supplies projects, critical organization decisions, and budget completion. Coordinates with Supply Chain Planning and Analytics team to produce reports.
Engages and collaborates with executive leadership and other key stakeholders on supply chain matters. Achieves organization alignment, drives improvement opportunities, and steers future business initiatives. Schedules and attends committee meetings, gathers feedback on supply chain decisions that affect other business groups and gains consensus when needed on important operation initiatives.
Directs and develops supply chain and/or materials management staff. Ensures positions, roles, and responsibilities are covered and that key organizational staff members are developed and appropriately utilized. Conducts internal reviews with supply chain staff members. Provides necessary feedback to ensure team members are developing and improving. Creates development plans for roles and levels to increase skills, capabilities and knowledge base.
Oversees and manages materials and supplies financials and metrics. Ensures financial goals are appropriately set and expectations are managed.
Aligns Supply Chain business initiatives and strategies to support larger, system-wide organizational priorities and/or other department directives. Ensures the Supply Chain Management organization is aligned with other departments and in compliance with regulatory standards. Meets with other department leaders to understand initiatives that affect the Supply Chain Management organization. Maintains an in-depth understanding of regulatory statues to ensure the Supply Chain Management organization is following government standards.

Promotes a positive safety culture and encourages reporting of safety concerns consistent with our Agency Safety Plan, other regulatory requirements within the Safety Management System and just culture principles.
