This position will provide advice and recommendations to maximize program outcomes, assist in developing and executing the strategic direction for the program, collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including state leadership, program providers and vendors, contractors, other agencies, internal divisions, agency management, and the general public to ensure program operations align with program goals and statutory compliance, and to inform policy recommendations related to the program.Work Hours8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, 40 hours. Weekend and/or late-evening work may be required. Actual work hours may change based on business need. Must be able to work flexible hours during legislative sessions and as needed. The position may be eligible for a flexible/hybrid work schedule if certain conditions are met; working arrangements may change at any time as business necessitates.
Qualifications: Minimum Qualificationsand#8226; Bachelor's degree in business, government, project management, public policy, or public administration or a related field.and#8226; Seven (7) years of experience advising senior decision-makers on complex policy issues.and#8226; Five (5) years of full-time experience in policy, government affairs, regulatory strategy, and budget or school finance work.and#8226; Five (5) years of work experience managing or coordinating policy research, evaluation, analysis and development.and#8226; Two (2) years of work experience leading or coordinating cross-sector stakeholder engagement and consultations.and#8226; Five (5) years of experience with Microsoft Office.Preferred Qualifications:and#8226; Additional five (5) years of experience advising senior decision-makers on complex policy issues.and#8226; Seven (7) years of full-time experience in policy, government affairs, regulatory strategy, and budget or school finance work.and#8226; Five (5) years of work experience leading or coordinating cross-sector stakeholder engagement and consultations.and#8226; Demonstrated knowledge of State of Texas regulations and policies regarding education or education finance.and#8226; Experience with State of Texas legislative process.and#8226; Experience with State of Texas budget process.and#8226; Experience with public speaking.and#8226; Experience with school choice programs.Substitutions:Five (5) additional years of policy, strategy, management, or research experience may substitute for thirty (30) semester hours of the required education with a maximum substitution of 60 semester hours (two years).Licenses/Certifications (Required)A valid Texas (or state of residency) driverand#8217;s license and a satisfactory driving record are a condition of employment.
