These internships are eligible for the department's "Intern to Hire (I2H) program." The I2H Program is a flexible path from undergraduate internships to rewarding careers in the Department. Students who successfully complete a minimum three-month internship, demonstrate exceptional performance and professionalism, and meet all Auditor 1 minimum education and training requirements are expected to transition to a full-time Auditor 1 position.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As an Audit Intern in the Bureau of Performance Audits, you will learn and actively participate in performance audits of Commonwealth agencies and programs to determine compliance with applicable laws and regulations; provide independent and objective assessments of programs, activities, and functions; and make recommendations for improvements. While working alongside auditors, remotely and at an auditee's location, you may gather information, participate in meetings with auditees and with your assigned audit team, and examine and analyze records related to the audit objectives. An intern in the Bureau of Performance Audits may assist with the following duties:
Conduct audit specific research
Draft requests for information from the auditee
Review and evaluate documents received from the auditee
Create and/or complete audit work papers
Draft audit findings
Assist with other duties or special projects as assigned
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Temporary, part-time, paid internship.
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
Telework: You will be expected to work from home (telework) on either a part or full-time telework basis.
You may be required to report to an auditee site frequently for audits or occasionally to the Department Headquarters, the Finance Building for team meetings.
You must have a securely configured, high-speed internet connection.
Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor Degree Track Internship Requirements:
Current enrollment as an undergraduate student in an accredited college/university in a declared Bachelor's degree program in accounting, business, computer science, data analytics, finance, economics, information technology, math, or a closely related field and successful completion of at least sixty (60) college credits at the time of the internship with a minimum 2.5 GPA; or
Current enrollment as a graduate student in an accredited college/university in a declared master's or doctorate degree program in accounting, business, computer science, data analytics, finance, economics, information technology, math, or a closely related field and a minimum 2.5 GPA at the time of the internship.
Someone who is passionate about their area of focus and public service, who is detail-oriented with curiosity and a desire to learn.
Intern Additional Requirements:
You must possess a valid driver's license.
You must reside in Pennsylvania for the entirety of the internship.
Future full-time positions require Pennsylvania residency.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Auditor 1 Requirements (Successful completion of the internship does not automatically guarantee placement into the Auditor 1 position-participants must still meet the criteria set forth for Auditor 1 classification):
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in accounting, business, data analytics, finance, economics, math, or a closely related field; or
An equivalent combination of education, experience, and training in accounting, auditing, or a closely related field.
Auditor 1 Additional Requirements:
You must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
