Accounting Specialist

Description We are looking for an Accounting Specialist to join our team on a part-time contract basis in Pikesville, Maryland. This role focuses on managing accounts receivable tasks, including tracking payments and issuing invoices, while supporting broader accounting functions. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in financial operations and a proactive approach to collections and reconciliation.

Responsibilities:

Manage accounts receivable processes, including tracking and reconciling incoming payments from various platforms such as PayPal, Square, and direct payments.

Prepare and issue invoices to students, ensuring billing accuracy and timeliness.

Follow up with students regarding outstanding payments and handle collections with attention to detail.

Utilize QuickBooks to maintain accurate financial records and streamline accounting operations.

Support account reconciliation efforts, ensuring all transactions are correctly documented.

Collaborate with the team to address any discrepancies in financial data.

Assist with accounts payable responsibilities as needed, contributing to the overall efficiency of the accounting department.

Maintain organized records and documentation for auditing purposes.

Provide insights and recommendations to improve financial processes and systems. Requirements - Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting or a related role.

Proficiency in managing accounts receivable and accounts payable functions.

Strong knowledge of QuickBooks and other accounting software.

Demonstrated expertise in billing and collections processes.

Ability to perform account reconciliation with attention to detail.

Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Familiarity with consumer collections practices and regulations.

Capable of working independently and managing time effectively.
