Qualifications: Minimum Qualificationsand#183; Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelorand#8217;s degree. and#183; Experience: Two (2) years of experience analyzing and researching accounts.Preferred Qualificationsand#183; Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a finance, accounting or other business-related degree.and#183; Experience:o Analyzing and researching taxpayer accountso Tax processing systems including AWM and CICSo Sales tax processingo Franchise TaxSubstitutions: One additional year of experience in analyzing and researching accounts may substitute for 30 semester hours of the required education, with a maximum of 120 semester hours (four years).In this role you will:Researches and analyzes taxpayer activities and conducts tax compliance examinations.and#183; Researches and analyzes taxpayer activities for a wide variety of industries and entity @types to determine legal structure, products or services provided, physical and/or economic presence, and applicable taxes to bring the taxpayer into compliance for the past lookback period.and#183; Examines and evaluates programs, policies, documents and/or contracts to ensure conformity with laws, rules and regulations for all taxes administered by the Texas Comptroller's office.and#183; Review and research higher dollar asset purchases to ensure compliance with Texas tax statutes.and#183; Reviews and analyzes tax reports, documentation, and payments to determine accuracy of computations, proper tax rates, and updates accounts with any necessary changes. Examines taxpayer accounts to determine appropriate and complete action, ensuring proper transactions are entered to the tax processing systems.and#183; Establishes examination period as required by division policy. Performs sampling techniques and tests the reliability and validity of the data.and#183; Research prior audits, taxability rulings, tax statutes, tax rules and other resources to make taxability and nexus decisions.and#183; May testify before courts of jurisdiction and administrative hearings.Meets training requirements.Prioritizes, plans, and organizes assigned inventory in a manner that will optimize efficiency.and#183; Monitors and reviews assignments and prioritizes workload to optimize efficiency in accordance with section policies and procedures.and#183; Plans available time to complete assigned tasks efficiently. Prepares and presents written and/or oral reports.and#183; Responds professionally to questions from taxpayers, tax practitioners, agency personnel, consultants, local jurisdictions, local and county officials.and#183; Handles high volume of phone calls from internal and external customers. Assists callers with their tax accounts, information requests, and questions.and#183; Uses a mainframe or personal computer to maintain and update files and produce reports.and#183; Prepares documentation to justify actions and monitors accounts for completion and subsequent action.and#183; Performs file maintenance to set up, update, or correct taxpayer accounts.
