Accounting Specialist

Location: Rutland, VT

Salary Range: $21.83/hour to start

Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:30AM-5:00PM

Key Responsibilities

General Ledger & Reporting

Prepare and post general ledger entries

Review and verify journal entries for accuracy

Balance and analyze general ledger accounts

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports

Process and reconcile corporate card expenses

Accounts Payable

Enter and maintain accurate vendor information

Review invoices for proper documentation and approval

Process payments and check requests

Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve discrepancies

Reconcile vendor statements

Administrative & Support Duties

Maintain required documentation for audits and regulatory purposes

Respond to internal and external requests via phone, email, and in person

Support and back up other accounting staff as needed

Maintain confidentiality and uphold a professional reputation in all communications

Participate in required training and team meetings

Perform other duties as assigned

What You'll Bring

Education & Experience

Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience - two years of experience for each year not completed)

1-3 years of accounts payable experience

Experience in a financial services or credit union environment preferred

Skills

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

Strong organizational and time management skills

Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Comfortable learning and using accounting-specific software

Effective written and verbal communication

Professional phone etiquette and interpersonal skills

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Office-based role requiring extended periods of computer use

Ability to lift up to 10 lbs occasionally

Must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance

Daily work includes repetitive motion tasks, such as typing and phone use
