Administrative Assistant I (Part-Time)

JOB REQUIREMENTS: The City of Beloit has an exciting employment opportunity in the Public Works Department working as an Administrative Assistant I. This position is under the Parks and Recreation Division and will primarily work at Eastlawn Cemetery. The Administrative Assistant I is responsible for administrative and clerical work within the Public Works Department. This position provides administrative support in the implementation and coordination of a variety of office functions necessitating judgment, discretion, and initiative in the interpretation and application of policies, procedures and processes. Employees in this position may be responsible for serving as a payroll clerk, coordinating purchasing, preparing meeting agendas or minutes, performing cemetery office operations, or performing other administrative tasks. Work is normally performed under the general supervision of the Administrative Supervisor. This is a part-time position, working Monday through Thursday. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 1. High School diploma or equivalent. 2. Must have a valid motor vehicle operator\'s license, satisfactory driving record or the ability to otherwise meet the transportation needs of the position. 3. Post-High School education in the study of business administration, bookkeeping, accounting, public administration, or a related field, is desired. 4. One to three years of administrative office experience, preferably in municipal government. 5. Other combinations of training and/or experience which can be demonstrated to result in the possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position will also be considered.
