DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Medical Records Assistant you will support the Medical Records Director by maintaining medical records, reviewing medical records for accuracy and completeness, and preparing medical reports, abstracts, and summaries. You will audit active and closed medical records for timeliness and completion of documentation, assist staff in the retrieval of medical records, and compile census statistical reports. This role requires attention to detail and the ability to ensure confidential information is released in accordance with established requirements and only to authorized individuals. In addition, you will utilize both manual and computerized systems to maintain resident information, assign diagnostic and procedure codes, and track medical record documents.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of clerical experience in a medical records department of a hospital, or ambulatory acute medical care setting or a licensed nursing facility, which has included six months of experience under the general direction or oversight by a registered Medical Records Technician or Administrator; and graduation from high school;or Graduation from a medical secretarial or medical records program;or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Legal Requirements: A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination. This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act. Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
