Project Accountant

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Project Accountant to join our team in Lemon Grove, California. This role involves managing financial aspects of construction projects, ensuring accuracy in reporting, and collaborating with project managers to maintain alignment between financial and operational goals. Responsibilities:

Oversee project accounting processes, including tracking costs, revenues, and budgets for construction projects.

Utilize percentage-of-completion methodology to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Collaborate effectively with assertive and opinionated project managers to address financial issues and align project goals.

Prepare and post journal entries to maintain an accurate general ledger.

Conduct month-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reconciliation of accounts.

Assist in compliance with government accounting standards, particularly for defense contracts.

Identify and implement process improvements to optimize project accounting workflows.

Support the preparation of financial reports and analyses for management review.

Ensure adherence to internal controls and organizational policies.

Contribute to the development of best practices within the accounting team. Requirements - Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in project accounting, preferably within construction or similar industries.

Proficiency in managing percentage-of-completion accounting methods.

Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with non-finance project managers.

Familiarity with journal entries and general ledger maintenance.

Experience in month-end close processes and account reconciliation.

Knowledge of government accounting standards and defense contracts is a plus.

Degree in accounting or finance is preferred, but candidates with relevant experience will be considered.

Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced and growing organization.
