Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all .
Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.
The Construction Engineering Group and Operations Engineering Group at Micron Technology work together to ensure electrical systems are designed, built, and maintained for long-term performance. The Construction Engineering Group supports early project phases, focusing on constructability, compliance, and technical coordination. They review design documents, contribute to system architecture, and assist with RFIs, submittals, and field inspections. Once construction is complete, the Operations Engineering Group takes over, managing system performance through troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement. Their focus is on reliability, safety, and collaboration with maintenance teams to keep systems running efficiently.
Micron is hiring an Electrical Operations Engineer to serve as a key link between these two groups. The role begins with a two-year assignment to the Construction Engineering Team, supporting design reviews and construction activities. Afterward, the engineer transitions to the Operations Engineering Group, taking full ownership of electrical systems such as power distribution, MCCs, VFDs, and backup power. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in both design collaboration and hands-on operational environments.
Job Responsibilities:
Design Collaboration & Early Engagement
Partner with Design Engineers during early project phases to influence electrical system architecture for long-term reliability, maintainability, and safety.
Construction Engineering Support
Temporarily support the Construction Engineering Team by reviewing design documents, participating in technical workgroup calls, and ensuring constructability and compliance with standards.
Technical Review & Analysis
Evaluate electrical drawings, perform load calculations, fault current analysis, arc flash studies, and ensure alignment with NEC, IEEE, and client specifications.
Construction Phase Coordination
Respond to RFIs, review submittals (e.g., switchgear, transformers, MCCs, VFDs), and support field engineering and inspections to ensure timely and code-compliant system delivery.
Commissioning & Transition to Operations
Verify system functionality during commissioning and facilitate a smooth handoff to operations, ensuring systems meet performance expectations.
Operations Ownership & System Management
Post-construction, take full ownership of electrical systems including power distribution, motor controls, emergency power, and lighting; manage performance and reliability.
Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement
Lead fault investigations, root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions; use diagnostic tools and data to drive system improvements.
Compliance, Documentation & Training
Ensure adherence to safety and engineering standards (OSHA, NFPA 70E, IEEE 1584); maintainaccurate documentation using BIM tools; train maintenance and operations teams.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
3-5 years of experience in electrical engineering, including design collaboration, construction support, and operational troubleshooting.
Proficient in power distribution systems, motor control centers (MCCs), VFDs, and backup/emergency power systems.
Familiar with electrical codes and standards such as NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE, and NETA.
Skilled in electrical analysis tools (e.g., ETAP, SKM PowerTools) and BIM platforms (e.g., Revit, Navisworks).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting electrical systems in high-reliability environments such as semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or data center facilities.
Familiarity with electrical system cybersecurity standards (e.g., IEC 62443) and emerging technologies including IoT, smart grid, and Industry 4.0 applications.
Experience mentoring operations staff, promoting technical excellence, safety, and continuous learning in electrical system operations.
