Who We Are
Vehicle Engineering (VE) is part of Volvo Group Trucks Technology (GTT), a division of Volvo Group North America, provide state-of-the-art research, engineering, product planning and project execution to final delivery of complete products and support of the products in the aftermarket. VE is responsible for the integration and development of technologies into a complete truck for all brands within the Volvo Group. What You will be doing
As an Electrical Engineer Intern, you will gain hands-on Hardware Rig Technician experience to support the design, assembly, and maintenance of test rigs equipped with Electronic Control Units (ECUs) for truck testing applications. This role is crucial for enabling controlled, repeatable, and data-rich testing environments for vehicle systems validation.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with engineering teams to interpret schematics, harness designs and other design documents
Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards during rig assembly and operation.
Install and wire ECUs according to test specifications, ensuring proper power supply, and grounding
Who You Are
You are an Electrical Engineering student that is prepared to work in a challenging and fast-paced environment, gaining experience and knowledge in various aspects of engineering (or mechanical, electrical, software, design, production, etc.). As a valued member of the engineering team within GTT, you will have the opportunity to work directly with the engineers in the department. Requirements:
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
Must have cumulative 30 credit hours and a minimum GPA of 2.75
Summer interns may work up to 40 hours per week
Understanding of wiring, harnessing, and electrical safety.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on testing environment.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
Self-motivated and open-minded to learning new skills.

The hourly rate for these roles is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, academic classification, and degree seeking area of study.
