PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE TECHNICIAN I- MET LAB Prepare samples for analysis and perform a limited range of basic metallurgical services under the direct supervision of the Group Leader. Perform mechanical and magnetic tests on standard equipment, such as hardness, tensile, and resistivity tests. Perform metallographic tests using etchants, polishing equipment, and standard metallographic tools. Collect and record test data obtained during evaluations. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned. This position may be located in any of the following areas: Mechanical Testing, Sample Preparation, Metallographic Testing, Magnetic Testing, or Heat Treating.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE TECHNICIAN I - MET LAB High school diploma required. Entry level position 0-1 years of experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE TECHNICIAN I - MET LAB Basic knowledge of metallurgical principles, standards, methods, and practices. Basic knowledge of metallurgical and laboratory equipment. Ability to manage time and meet deadlines with guidance from others. Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and make appropriate decisions. Ability to conduct entry-level activities that are narrow in scope and relatively low in complexity. Ability to operate basic metallurgical and laboratory equipment. Ability to work effectively in a production-oriented environment under direct supervision. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
