Pay Range: $57.36 - $85.47 per hour

Job Summary:
The Director of Research and Innovation will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for the research and innovation initiatives at the Road Home Program (RHP). This pivotal role involves guiding the entire lifecycle of treatment development and health technology, from initial concept and user-need identification to securing funding and evaluating efficacy through randomized controlled trials. The Director will manage a diverse team of clinicians, researchers, and data scientists, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. This position is ideal for a visionary leader passionate about leveraging advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to create scalable, personalized, and effective mental health interventions for veterans and their families.
Required Job Qualifications:
· Education and Licensure:
o A Ph.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA-accredited program or related field.
o Licensed or license-eligible as a Clinical Psychologist in the state of Illinois.
· Experience:
o A minimum of 8 years of post-doctoral experience in mental health research, with a significant focus on PTSD, trauma-related disorders, and veteran populations.
o Demonstrated success as a Principal Investigator or Research Director, with a strong track record of securing major federal and foundation grants.
o Extensive experience in the development, clinical implementation, and evaluation of machine learning and generative AI tools for mental health applications.
o Proven leadership in managing large, interdisciplinary teams and significant operating budgets.
· Skills and Competencies:
o Expertise in advanced statistical methods, predictive analytics, and research design for clinical trials and health services research.
o Deep understanding of ethical AI principles, data governance, and the protection of sensitive patient data.
o Exceptional ability to translate complex research findings into clinical practice rapidly and effectively.
o A strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals and a history of presenting at major academic conferences.
o Outstanding strategic planning, program management, and stakeholder collaboration skills.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
· Specialized Training:
o Advanced training and expertise in evidence-based psychotherapies for PTSD, such as Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) or Prolonged Exposure (PE), is highly preferred.
· Specific Programmatic Experience:
o Direct experience working within veteran-focused healthcare programs and multi-site research projects.
o A documented history of successfully mentoring postdoctoral fellows and research staff who have advanced to faculty or independent research careers.

Job Responsibilities:
· Strategic Leadership and Program Development:
o Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive research agenda aligned with the mission of the Road Home Program and Rush University Medical Center.
o Oversee the design and implementation of clinical trials to evaluate novel treatments and interventions, including evidence-based psychotherapies augmented with innovative therapeutic interventions.
o Drive the end-to-end development of patient-facing and clinician-facing generative AI platforms to enhance therapeutic engagement and improve care delivery, and scale high-quality clinical training.
· Research and Analytics Oversight:
o Direct program evaluation efforts to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of clinical services, utilizing data-driven insights to reduce costs and improve patient outcomes.
o Pioneer the implementation of predictive mental health models that utilize continuously updating clinical data to personalize patient care.
o Champion innovative research methods to inform individualized treatment protocols.
· Team Management and Mentorship:
o Direct a large, nationwide clinical and research program with a large annual operating budget and numerous direct reports, including faculty, research managers, statisticians, data scientists, and clinical staff.
o Mentor and supervise postdoctoral fellows, research assistants, and junior faculty, fostering their career development and success in securing grants and academic positions.
· Grant Acquisition and Stakeholder Collaboration:
o Secure substantial funding from federal, foundation, and philanthropic sources, including the Department of Defense (DoD), National Institutes of Health (NIMH), and Wounded Warrior Project, to support research and innovation.
o Serve as a key representative on institutional and national committees to establish ethical guidelines, data analysis, and governance policies as it relate to clinical settings.
o Author and co-author high-impact, peer-reviewed scientific articles in leading journals and present findings at national and international conferences.
