Job Description

The Trim Operator is responsible for constructing aircraft interior and structural parts such as bin doors and ceiling panels by trimming the parts using hand tools like routers and drills. This role requires strong attention to detail and the ability to read and understand manufacturing orders.

Responsibilities

Operate and process parts in the trim area.

Safely trim parts according to specifications.

Maintain and identify defects in Trim Drill Fixture and Hand Route Fixture, reporting any findings to the supervisor.

Document processes to maintain traceability.

Adhere to company specifications, work instructions, manufacturing orders, and customer specifications.

Safely handle various regulated materials used in the process.

Carefully handle materials and manufactured parts to ensure integrity and quality are not compromised.

Wear specialized PPE during the entirety of the shift, including full-face masks with respirators.

React productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned, as business conditions change.

Participate in required on-the-job training, including stamps.

Understand and follow health and safety policies, procedures, requirements, and regulations.

Complete mandatory 24 hours of training requirements per year.

Protect and maintain the confidentiality of products.

Tasks may vary slightly based on products produced at the division and can be physically demanding at times.

Essential Skills

High school diploma or equivalent.

0 - 1 year(s) in aerospace manufacturing or equivalent preferred for Level 1.

Ability to use Microsoft Office products.

Basic ability to use and read measuring devices, calipers, pneumatic hand tools, and trim tools.

Proficient in 1 - 2 trim operator specializations, such as band saw and/or sanding parts.

Good hand/eye coordination.

Ability to read and write English at a comprehensive level necessary for successful job performance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Intermediate to advanced ability to use and read measuring devices, calipers, pneumatic hand tools, and trim tools for higher levels.

Proficiency in multiple trim operator specializations for higher levels.

Forklift certification required for Level 2 and above.

Ability to lead daily meetings and provide continuous improvement suggestions for Level 3 and above.

Experience in handling complex issues and escalating more complex issues to supervisors for higher levels.

Work Environment

The work environment involves operating in a trim area, requiring the use of hand tools and specialized PPE. Employees must adhere to strict safety protocols and be comfortable handling materials that may be physically demanding. The role includes wearing full-face masks with respirators during the entire shift. Training and development are integral, with mandatory annual training hours to maintain skill proficiency

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
