Development Officer - AC Foundation
who will be all-in on our mission and who will be responsible for engaging, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors to support strategic initiatives of Amarillo College and the Amarillo College Foundation. This position will manage a portfolio focused on securing major gifts from individual donors, charitable foundations, and planned giving prospects, ensuring alignment with the Colleges mission and long-term advancement goals.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Required:Bachelors Degree.
Preferred:Masters Degree.
EXPERIENCE:
Required:Experience in donor cultivation, solicitation or stewardship in a non-profit setting or similar transferable skills from other workforce experience (i.e.) marketing or sales.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Participate in and support comprehensive fundraising initiatives, including annual campaigns, major gifts, planned giving, and special projects in alignment with the College and Foundations strategic priorities.
Collaborate with the Vice President of Institutional Advancement to design, implement, and evaluate giving campaigns such as the Year-End Giving Campaign, Major Gifts initiatives, and Planned Giving programs.
Partner with the Amarillo College Foundation (ACF) Chief Operating Officer to expand planned giving opportunities, including outreach to area attorneys, financial planners, and other professional advisors.
Represent the Foundation at College, community, and regional forums, cultivating strong relationships with donors, alumni, and community stakeholders.
Provide regular updates to the Foundation Board ofu Directors on donor engagement, fundraising progress, and advancement initiatives.
Work collaboratively with Advancement and Foundation staff, faculty, and College leadership to coordinate fundraising strategies and donor stewardship efforts.
Identify, cultivate, and solicit major gift prospects, engaging trustees and key volunteers as appropriate to advance fundraising objectives.
Assist in the planning and execution of fundraising events and donor recognition activities to strengthen donor engagement and community visibility.
Develop and prepare high-quality proposals, case statements, letters of inquiry, and related correspondence for submission to private foundations, corporations, and other potential funders.
Execute and manage campaign vision.
Maintain accurate records of donor activity, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with College and Foundation policies, and contribute to regular progress reporting.
Perform other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of fundraising principles, techniques, and best practices, including annual giving, major gifts, and planned giving.
Knowledge of donor relations, stewardship practices, and fundraising ethics, with a commitment to confidentiality.
Knowledge of non-profit or higher education advancement structures, including board and volunteer engagement.
Knowledge of proposal and grant writing processes, including private foundations and corporate sponsorships.
Knowledge of financial planning concepts and planned giving vehicles (wills, trusts, bequests, charitable gift annuities, etc.).
Knowledge of event planning and community engagement strategies.
Familiaritywith donor database/CRM systems and fundraising technology platforms.
Strong written communication skills for drafting proposals, case statements, donor correspondence, and reports.
Strong verbal and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders including donors, faculty, board members, and community leaders.
Skilled in public speaking and representing the College/Foundation at community forums.
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple fundraising campaigns, donor portfolios, and events simultaneously.
Skilled in using data to track fundraising progress, donor engagement, and campaign success.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to quickly learn new fundraising or database software.
Skilled in strategic thinking and aligning fundraising strategies with institutional priorities.
Ability to cultivate and maintain long-term donor relationships with diplomacy, discretion, and integrity.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Ability to prioritize competing demands, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing circumstances in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to engage and motivate volunteers, trustees, and board members to support fundraising goals.
Ability to develop creative solutions for fundraising challenges and donor engagement.
Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism, tact, and confidentiality in all interactions.
Ability to represent the Foundation and College in a positive, credible, and professional manner at all times.
Salary:
Amarillo College follows a lag pay strategy, with starting offers typically between the minimum and midpoint of the pay grade, rarely reaching the maximum to support long-term growth within each position.
