Clean Energy Solutions, a business unit of Generac Power Systems, is seeking a Manufacturing Test Engineer to maintain automated test systems that are deployed at our manufacturing facility in Richardson Texas. The ideal candidate for this role is passionate in our technology space, self motivated, and is a collaborative problem solver with excellent communication skills. As a member of a global hardware team, this role will be instrumental in shaping the future of the emergent home energy space.
You will partner with and provide data and technical insights to global teams to ensure we consistently develop and deliver high-quality products. You will contribute to the planning and delivery of product development projects while strengthening your analytical skills and mastery of engineering concepts, and you will use what you learn to continuously improve our validation, test, and approval processes and tools to help us be more efficient and effective.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assemble, deploy, and improve manufacturing ATE test stations to support manufacturing of Generac CES Products at our contract manufacturer facility in Richardson, TX
Formally document test procedures, maintenance procedures, troubleshooting guides, and gauge repeatability & reproducibility reports.
Drive systematic troubleshooting, assist with root cause analysis, and champion long term improvement of our test equipment
Continuously improve uptime, cycle time, and yield of test equipment to enable production capacity ramps
Retrofit and upgrade test equipment when product changes are introduced
Implement automated processes to analyze data generated by test systems to identify anomalies, or predict upcoming failures
Utilize processes like FMEA to identify gaps in manufacturing and then design new processes to cover those gaps
Participate in new product design reviews to ensure Design for Testability (DFT)
Collaborate with global Generac teams of design, manufacturing, compliance, etc. as needed to optimize complex design and validation
Minimal Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or industrial technology
3-5 years related experience in the Engineering function within a similar working environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or computer science
Excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills
Hands on experience running tests on complex electronic components and/or systems; including the use of oscilloscopes, power supplies, and other various electronic test equipment/meter
Experience developing component and/or system level test plans, test procedures, and test reports
Experience with CAN communication, Ethernet, RS232, RS485, and other communication networks
Experience with software debugging tools; including debuggers, logs, stack-traces, and test-panels
Experience with software development tools; including development environments, revision control systems, and issue trackers
Demonstrated ability to successfully work on multiple projects simultaneously and make sound priority decisions
Experience with data analysis and insight communication of complex technical topics
Experience with new product introductions and technical/process transfer to new suppliers
Additional Skills:
Strong understanding of the operating principles of embedded devices and power electronics, especially those using components such as microcontrollers, power supplies, and ADCs
Experience with programming in Go
Experience with data analysis tools; including Python, pandas, and matplotlib
Experience with statistical analysis tools; including R, JMP, or Sympy
Proficiency in Linux
Experience with a variety of test @types including PCBA, end-of-line, firmware programming, and Burn-In
Deep familiarity and experience with high-volume manufacturing of electronics products, including mixed surface mount/through-hole PCBs and electro-mechanical assembly.
