Primary Purpose
Student will assist the Office of Equity & Well-Being with programming, event logistics, administrative tasks, and serve as an ambassador to students and community in the Student Resource Center. Student Assistant to the Office of Equity & Well-Being.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist the Office of Equity & Well-Being with food bank operations and replenishment of goods at COCC campuses, including Bend, Redmond, Prineville, and Madras. The requirements listed below are representative of the role.
Greet and assist pantry visitors in a friendly and respectful manner
Stock and organize shelves and refrigerators
Maintain a clean and inviting campus food pantry, including wiping down counter space, shelving, inside fridge & freezer space
Monitor inventory levels and help with food orders (including shopping/pick-ups at local stores or foodbanks)
Log food distributions and assist with basic data entry
Help promote the pantry through events or outreach as needed
Travel to Branch Campuses as necessary
Other duties as assigned

Individuals must possess these knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the duties and responsibilities of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and faculty from diverse backgrounds. Ability to maintain confidentiality and sensitivity when assisting food pantry customers.
Ability to manage conflicts within and/or between groups and to work in a team environment. Ability to be accurate and detail oriented.
Ability to remain flexible and do different tasks on a daily basis.
Ability to provide consistent and dependable customer service in a culturally humble and trauma informed manner.
Ability to develop strong working relationships with people from different cultural backgrounds and other aspects of human diversity.
Ability to use software programs and database systems which include Microsoft Office Suite, email, and modern office equipment.
Ergonomic Requirements
Regular office hours are established between 8 am - 5 pm during the workweek. A flexible work schedule, including nights and weekends, may be necessary due to the nature of the responsibilities.
Requires the ability to complete frequent lifting up to 25lbs, occasional lifting up to 50lbs with assistance. Standing, reaching, walking up and down staircases, reading small text, and repetitive motion of arms and shoulders is inherent in the job duties. Must be able to function effectively indoors in an office environment and outdoors in a retail environment while shopping for food bank goods. Requires the ability to work at a workstation for extended periods. Requires the ability to write, read written materials and computer screens, and ability to use telephonic conversations. Must be able to drive between the four COCC campuses and various shopping locations. All individuals are required to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Minimum Requirements
Awarded and accepted Federal Work-Study for 2025-26
Meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress for financial aid.
Valid Oregon Driver's License, and the ability to meet the College requirements to drive campus vehicles (which includes being at least 21 years old); or the ability to obtain within 30-days of employment.
