JOB SUMMARY
The fitness associate (FA) is responsible for providing coverage and supervision of the exercise floor and leading group exercise classes as assigned. As a part of this coverage of the exercise floor, the FA will help clients with the implementation of their exercise prescriptions and programs, provide instruction on proper usage of exercise equipment and respond to exercise related questions and issues as they arise. Additionally, the FA will be expected to conduct and interpret sub-maximal exercise tests on apparently healthy and non-clinical populations.

What We're Looking For:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related health field.
Certification: Certified Personal Trainer or Strength & Conditioning Coach (e.g., ACE, ACSM, NSCA, NASM).
Experience: Proven success in fitness coaching, personal training, or wellness programming.
Skills: Strong interpersonal communication, teamwork, self-motivating work ethic, and exercise planning expertise.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with diverse populations including seniors and prenatal clients.
Ability to encourage and motivate clients to set and reach goals
Ability to interpret fitness data and provide actionable insights.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The ability to administer and interpret the results of standard exercise physiology laboratory procedures.
Conducts Sub-maximal Exercise Tests according to ACSM guidelines and department quality assurance standards.
Conducts standard measures of body composition (skinfolds, circumference, BIA, underwater weighing) and field tests according to department standards and quality assurance guidelines.
Complies and enters data necessary to track adherence to lab quality assurance standards.
Reviews and is evaluated on all lab skills related to sub-maximal testing annually by lab Coordinator or Supervisor.
Interacts effectively with members on the exercise floor and related areas
Answers questions related to exercise programming and prescription as needed.
Greets each individual client promptly and by name whenever possible.
Monitors client progress as they progress in their exercise program or intervention.
Conducts exercise prescriptions and consultations competently and according to ACSM guidelines and department policy.
Records and enters data in CSI system to formulate the exercise prescription.
Gives client adequate feedback related to the exercise test in 15-20 minutes.
Prescribes exercise specific to the individual needs of the patient and the population being tested (i.e., Senior, Cardiac, Pre-natal)
Monitors member/client participation and adherence to their exercise prescription and program.
Consistently maintains and monitors exercise equipment, floor, lab and related areas.
Completes daily documentation of exercise floor and equipment maintenance.
Reports and documents health and environmental conditions which might compromise customer safety according to department policy.
Is proactive in helping to maintain building and equipment integrity.
Is involved in resource, equipment and budgetary management as needed.
Provides monthly report to supervisor specific exercise program specialty.
Coordinates with supervisor, the annual budgetary requirements specific to program specialization.
Identifies and eliminates potential sources of waste in exercise-related areas and services
