Badger Central Express Supervisor

who will be all-in on our mission and who

manages campus-wide mail processing, delivery, and shipping services while driving the growth of Badger Central Express, a revenue-generating unit of the Badger Central Bookstore and Caf. In addition to core mailroom duties, this role oversees retail and production services, including customer shipping assistance, payment processing, inventory management, Amazon order fulfillment, and in-house apparel production (embroidery and heat press). The supervisor ensures operational efficiency while identifying opportunities to expand services, increase revenue, and enhance the campus customer experience.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

Required:High School Diploma or GED.

Preferred:Associate degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

EXPERIENCE:

Required:One (1) year of experience in mailroom operations, retail, shipping/logistics, or similar service environment.

Preferred:Two (2) or more years of experience in mailroom operations, retail, shipping/logistics, or similar service environment.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

Required:Valid Texas Drivers License with a clean three (3) year driving record.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Supervise, train, and coordinate part-time staff or student workers performing mail pickup, delivery, and outgoing package processing.

Collect, sort, and distribute incoming mail and packages from Amarillo Colleges PO Box and other locations.

Meter, stamp, and prepare all outgoing mail and packages according to USPS and institutional guidelines.

Provide packing, shipping, and mailing services for customers at Badger Central Express, including helping customers pack items, estimating costs and delivery schedules, operating a register, accepting payments, and balancing funds.

Promote and educate campus and community members about the services and retail offerings of Badger Central Express, including postage sales, package services, and custom product capabilities.

Deliver intercampus mail, supplies, and small freight to and from all Amarillo College locations.

Pick up and deliver special items, including bank deposits, Caf supply runs, and official materials for college departments.

Operate and maintain college vehicles, mailroom equipment, and specialized production equipment (embroidery machine, heat presses, Pitney Bowes machine).

Maintain delivery logs, track incoming and outgoing shipments, and manage daily route scheduling.

Manage inventory of mailing supplies, production blanks, and related materials; coordinate purchasing as needed.

Support Badger Central Bookstore operations by assisting with order fulfillment (Amazon orders, Amazon FBA inventory, online store), apparel production, and inventory movement.

Work closely with the Mailroom and Bookstore Services Coordinator to schedule production projects for internal programs, including Fire, Police, EMS, and Allied Health uniforms.

Assist in marketing efforts and signage for Badger Central Express, contributing to brand development, customer growth, and service awareness.

Help identify opportunities to expand revenue-generating initiatives and improve operational efficiency, balancing functional service delivery with business growth.

Perform other work-related duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of postal regulations, shipping platforms (e.g., USPS, FedEx, UPS), and retail customer service.

Skill in point-of-sale systems, handling cash and card transactions, and retail fund reconciliation.

Ability to manage staff, delegate tasks, and maintain operational accountability.

Understanding of marketing, budgeting, inventory control, and small-business logistics.

Familiarity with embroidery or heat press operations is a plus (training available).

Strong organizational and time management skills to coordinate deliveries and staff schedules.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic business software.

Ability to lift, carry, and transport up to fifty (50) pounds.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build rapport with internal and external customers.

Self-motivated and adaptable to a fast-paced, customer-facing, entrepreneurial environment.

Professionalism, reliability, and a strong commitment to institutional service standards.

Salary:

Amarillo College follows a lag pay strategy, with starting offers typically between the minimum and midpoint of the pay grade, rarely reaching the maximum to support long-term growth within each position.

Pay grade 7

Amarillo College Pay Grades(salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).

Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and/or maneuver office supplies up to fifty (50) pounds as needed.

Working Conditions:Must be available to work a consistent daytime schedule, with occasional flexibility to accommodate campus events or operational needs.
