MNIT Administration supports systems that power the agency's diverse responsibilities, including insurance/risk management, procurement, construction projects, leases, and state property maintenance.
Join Minnesota IT Services (MNIT) and the Minnesota Department of Administration (Admin) as an Application Support Specialist, where you'll lead IT support and development for key databases and websites within Admin's Risk Management Division (RMD). Your role will involve providing leadership, expertise, and training to ensure the smooth operation of critical applications, aiding managerial decision-making, and enhancing communication within the division.
You'll also guide and support other staff, oversee the planning and deployment of data systems, and contribute to the overall mission of Admin. Admin operates the state government's insurance program, including workers' compensation and safety programs, and provides a range of services such as disability management, return-to-work programs, and risk management consulting.

This position requires an employee to be onsite at 50 Sherburne Ave, St. Paul, Minnesota at least 50% of the time, with some opportunity to perform work from a telework location. Minimum Qualifications

Position requires a minimum of four (4) years of experience in performing IT application support functions.
Experience must include:
Business Application and Database Management, including:
Project Planning
Requirement and Design
Overseeing Development
Testing
Implementation
Managing the lifecycle of business applications
Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with technical staff, management, business leaders, SMEs, and vendor representatives
Problem resolution and troubleshooting application issues
Working with 3 rd party vendors, in particular, application providers/vendors
Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.
Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.
A master's degree in Information Technology or an IT related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR an IT related bachelor's degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR an IT related associate's degree substitutes for one (1) year.
Preferred Qualifications
Competency in cloud-based computing, such as Microsoft Azure.
Configuring and troubleshooting cloud services and managing the lifecycle of agency applications in a cloud environment.
Proficiency in database management systems and data analysis tools.
Knowledge of security control system configuration and parameters.
Knowledge of and experience with insurance underwriting and claims, workers compensation, and risk management/safety programs.
