Collins Aerospace has an exciting opportunity for Mechanical Engineer I with a passion for problem solving and delivering solutions that provide compelling gains to the consistency, efficiency and productivity of the various business processes.
Participates in product development activities, executes tests, and produces parts, designs, or sketches, following all appropriate Mechanical Engineering design, safety, and qualification standards. Apply scientific principles to innovate, design, develop, and implement technologies, components, sub-systems, machines, tools, and systems to ensure compliance to specifications, requirements, and customer guarantees across applicable operating conditions. Ensures novel ideas and implementations are captured and protected using applicable IP processes and tools.
This position will sit at our Aguadilla , PR location. Candidate must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment.
This role is categorized as hybrid , with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote following the schedule assigned by the Manager **.
What You Will Do**
Conduct design activities for Advanced Structures systems components within an integrated product development team, ensuring product excellence and integrity.
Support the Change Requests (CRs) process for the Propeller systems group.
Perform drawing, geometry, and documentation checks.
Collaborate with manufacturing operations to address non-conforming material.
Capture and protect novel ideas and implementations using applicable IP processes and tools.
Assist in developing in-house tools to enhance analysis efficiency.
Utilize engineering standard work and CORE/ACE tools to improve the design process.
Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
Create 2D and 3D CAD designs using Catia and NX CAD Software.
Investigate design-related issues and develop effective solutions.
Participate in cross-functional meetings to ensure successful product designs and engineering changes.
Escalate issues, risks, and blockers promptly.
Keep management informed of progress to ensure alignment.
Support the team with ad-hoc data-related tasks.
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and less than 2 years prior relevant experience
Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).

Qualifications We Prefer
BS in Mechanical or Civil Engineering, preferred
Knowledge in Catia, NX, CREO, or similar CAD software.
Experience with coding in VBA, Matlab, Python, or similar programming languages.
Up to 2 years of experience with hardware and blueprints.
Knowledge of Static, Thermal, and Dynamic fundamentals.
Capability to collaborate with other professionals locally and globally.
Experience or knowledge in SAP, TEAMCENTER, PLM, and Configuration Management.
Experience writing Standard Job Instructions and/or Work Procedures.
Experience in MS Office programs, including Word, Excel, Visio, Project, and PowerPoint.
Knowledge of industry best practices to drive continuous process improvement.
General knowledge of Project Management.
Ability to read and understand technical processes.
Experience in the Aerospace Industry is a plus.
