Summary This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It is located in the DISA OC / DISA Global Field Command, Infrastructure & Services Division (DG42 / DG45) . Responsibilities Full lifecycle support for Department of Defense communication and network systems, from planning and design to implementation, integration, operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of systems transmitting voice, data, and video. Provides technical guidance and oversight to government and contracted teams with responsibilities of fault isolation, configuration control, mission assurance, performance, and security. Assesses new communications systems requirements and capabilities, performance deficiencies, interoperability requirements, and identifies technology enhancements applicable to information transfer services provided by the Enterprise Infrastructure Briefs upper management on problems that may arise, such as network isolations, which cannot be corrected promptly. Defines network policies and provides technical direction of networks supporting DoD-wide requirements. Supports the DISA Global to develop initiatives and policy to affect the resolution of issues concerning DISA optimization, working within established panels, committees, and ad hoc working groups. Basic Requirements: Experience Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. Positions at GG-13 require one year of qualifying experience at the next lower GG-grade (or equivalent). Qualifying experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT. Qualifying Experience: To qualify at the GG-13, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. For this position, qualifying experience is defined as experience managing configuration, changes, events, performance, and problems within optical transport and IP enterprise networks; Experience integrating operational military functions into Department of Defense networks to ensure mission assurance engineering across partner domains along with IT-related experience demonstrating Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving as described in the vacancy announcement.
