General
The Director, Estimating (HBH) of North America will partner with members of the Consumer Packaging Executive Team to provide strategic estimating direction and support for the North American Consumer Packaging Business. This individual will work closely with our commercial and operational teams to drive our estimating strategies and profitability targets. This position will also work with other members of the estimating community to benchmark best practices, leading and aligning adoption and implementation across the Consumer Packaging segment.
Responsible for the maintenance and accuracy of all estimating systems, processes and tools across the HBH businesses in North America. The individual will have a proven track record of establishing deep internal and external stakeholder relationships with the ability to lead, collaborate, inspire and influence all levels in a complex matrixed organization. The individual will also drive thought leadership and execution around estimating analytics, automation and administration as we work towards developing market-based pricing.
The position will have direct oversight over the estimating organizations for the Home, Beauty and Healthcare businesses in North America.
HOW YOU WILL IMPACT SMURFIT WESTROCK
Leadership of an aligned Estimating Organization across the North American HBH businesses with accountability for Estimating, and Bid Management, in partnership with Operations, Sales and COE Leadership Teams.
Understand current Pricing, Estimating and Bid Management models, in partnership with local team leaders and Executive leadership teams. Work with EMEA and APAC pricing and estimating leaders to ensure an aligned approach across Consumer Packaging Regions as appropriate.
Implementation of a common set of processes and tools in the estimating organization.
Own policy development, communication and administration for all HBH sites across North America in partnership with Sales and Operational Leadership Teams. Working with the F&B counterpart, aligning elements of strategic vision and approach.
Provide thought leadership around estimating analytics. Drive execution of estimating automation and administration initiatives.
Help create a shared vision for market-based pricing and then work with the pricing and estimating teams to execute that vision.
Adaptable in approach. Demonstrating agility, flexibility, and a willingness to modify one\u2019s preferred way of performing tasks and supplying guidance to achieve desired results; responding quickly to changing demands, processes, and updated information.
Coordinate with IBP and ITP process leaders, specifically in preparation for the Demand Review, to ensure that pricing strategy is included in commercial decision-making.
Build strong partnerships with key stakeholders across each category to effectively drive models and programs. Partner with all cross-functional stakeholders and teams to ensure effective alignment, communication, effective collaboration, and focus.
Champion and lead integration and change initiatives.
Effective in problem-solving. Applies personal knowledge to frame, simplify and solve complex issues; focuses on identifying root causes to create solutions in a timely and decisive manner; demonstrates ability to tackle problems by using a logical, systematic, or sequential approach.
Partner with site level Subject Matter Experts (SME) and site level Operational Leaders to define, review, & align to aspirational, yet achievable production standards, materials, approved suppliers and technologies.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED
Excellent leadership skills, ability to engage, motivate and develop high performing teams.
Bachelor's degree, or a minimum of 10 years of business leadership experience.
Knowledge and understanding of Pricing and Estimating approaches and tools.
Knowledge of key markets including Home, Beauty and Healthcare and all associated technologies.
Strategic thinking capability and experience. Commercially astute with the proven ability to build strong internal and external relationships that foster an environment of collaboration to drive robust and aligned strategic and annual plans.
Strong collaboration, presentation and communication skills that allow for highly effective engagement of stakeholders and customers both internally and externally. Ability to influence across teams, build strong partnerships and empower others.
Experience in the development and management of reporting standards across a large matrixed organization, including KPI performance and achievements, trends, and any remediations to address performance. Strength in detailed and accurate analysis and presentation on customer and market activity.
Sound understanding of sales force effectiveness processes and the utilization of CRM processes and best practices.
Thorough understanding of the business\u2019s operations, including manufacturing flows and processes.
Advanced levels of process management and organizational skills. Strong analytical skills and strategic thinking capability.
Sales related learning and development experience.
Project management skills to manage cross-functional projects with demonstrated ability to multi-task and set priorities for the team.
