As a Facilities Construction Manager, you will support the Facilities function for the Middleton Site and manage construction projects of varying scales in a fast-paced technical lab environment. You will lead projects through completion and occupancy according to specifications and deadlines, ensuring projects stay within the prescribed budget. You will collaborate closely with consultants and internal stakeholders to ensure successful project execution, including risk and change management and start-up coordination.
A Day in the Life:
Oversee multiple simultaneous construction projects in a biotechnology setting.
Assess facility space impacts during multiple simultaneous construction efforts across a portfolio of projects.
Define and evaluate project and stakeholder objectives, providing effective solutions to issues which arise in construction.
Communicate and manage objectives with planners, architects, engineers, and contractors.
Schedule and lead project review and sign-off meetings, and review construction materials and methods.
Ensure compliance with internal validation and change control requirements.
Develop project schedules and maintain all aspects of quality control throughout the project lifecycle.
Collaborate with Procurement to create RFPs, execute contracts and purchase orders, and review bid information and third party cost estimates for accuracy.
Manage project budgets, including financial forecasting, change orders, and pay application reviews.
Build strong working relationships with peers and customers to achieve business objectives.
Provide daily operational support and perform other duties as needed.
Keys to Success:
Education
Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification in construction management services, engineering, or related field
Experience
Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 5+ years).
In some cases, an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Knowledge of construction principles, contract administration, architectural and engineering disciplines, and ability to read construction drawings.
Basic understanding of architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, building management systems, and familiarity with emerging trends in their application.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, motivated, reliable, and eager to learn new strategies and technologies.
Strong analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
Excellent cross-functional communication skills, able to convey complex concepts effectively across multiple levels of the organization.
