The Finance Department is actively seeking a Account Technician Specialist.

This is technical-accounting work at the lead worker in the reviewing, processing, and maintaining of accounting or fiscal records. Work requires knowledge of techniques, methods and procedures used in performing clerical and technical accounting functions which are learned through a combination of training and considerable on-the-job experience. Contacts require skills in understanding and/or influencing people and are important in providing accounting support work including skills of persuasiveness, assertiveness, and sensitivity to others point of view that are required to influence behavior, change an opinion, or turn a situation around. Acts as lead worker by scheduling, distributing, reviewing, and guiding the work assignments of others. The work is semi-routine where tasks are covered by procedures or precedents, but some latitude is permitted to consider the most appropriate technique, method, or procedure to follow. The work involves differing situations requiring use of judgment in search for solutions or new applications within ones' known experiences. Work is performed in an office environment. The physical demands consist mainly of sitting or standing at a workstation for extended periods of time and occasionally lifting and moving light objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Operates standard office equipment such as personal computer The work is performed under general supervision where the work assignments are varied, although subject to instructions and established work routines, the worker is permitted some latitude to set own priorities subject to superior's approval.

Schedules, assigns, reviews, trains, and coordinates the work of others.
Compiles data for preparation of operating budgets.
Analyzes and audits accounting and fiscal data, records, and reports.
Prepares accounting and fiscal reports, statements, and summaries.
Reconciles and balances financial statements and accounting records.
Maintains and prepares payroll and pay vouchers.
Receives funds, prepares deposits, and reconciles bank statements.
Post transactions to proper accounts.
Prepares and maintains correspondence, files and standard operating procedures.
Operates standard office equipment such as personal computer using word processing, spreadsheet, database, and various accounting related software, copiers, and calculators.
Demonstrates proficiency in the City of Jacksonville's competencies.
Performs related work as required.

OPEN REQUIREMENTS:
Three (3) years of education, and/or clerical or technical accounting experience which includes successful completion of six (6) semester hours of college level accounting course work from an accredited institution.
OTHER REQUIPMENTS:
The probationary period for this class is six months.
