We have an outstanding opportunity for a Marketing Associate that will support KUOW's audience and donor engagement strategies across channels including email, social media, advertising, on-air messaging, direct mail, live events, and more. This role will wear many hats, collaborating with diverse creative teams and amplifying the work of KUOW's journalism and helping reach KUOW's audience growth goals.
KUOW Puget Sound Public Radio is Seattle's NPR news station. We are an independent, nonprofit news organization producing award-winning journalism, podcasts, and events in service to the 3.9 million people in our coverage area. JOB SUCCESS SUMMARY
A successful marketing associate will model the values of KUOW: collaborating with internal teams, bringing curiosity and a growth mindset to projects, and acting in service of the Puget Sound community.
A successful marketing associate will thrive in a creative, dynamic, and highly collaborative environment. They will have the ability to brainstorm, pitch, and develop engaging concepts for KUOW's communications materials. They will be skilled at giving and receiving creative feedback and maintaining brand standards. They will be a strong writer, able to adapt to KUOW's brand voice and produce sharp marketing copy across channels. They will be organized and able to manage multiple deadlines and communication streams with various internal teams.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Marketing Content and Campaign Support (70%)
This role will create branded promotional content across the organization that advances KUOW audience growth goals. This position would support communications projects for various departments, including podcasting, fundraising, business support, and of course-marketing!
Tasks include but are not limited to:
Independently develop KUOW marketing campaign content, including social copy and basic graphics, press releases, on-air promotional scripts, marketing emails and newsletters, and more;
Manage a queue of creative requests from internal KUOW teams, working with the director of marketing to prioritize and greenlight requests and coordinating with internal teams on production, review, and final delivery of files;
Provide quality control checks on marketing and fundraising emails, ensuring mass emails meet brand standards and are error-free;
Create taglines and write copy for KUOW's marketing and fundraising campaigns;
Produce from templates sales collateral for business support and fundraising teams;
Develop promotional assets for KUOW Live Events team, including social campaigns, print assets, presentations, and more;
Complete light graphic production work from pre-existing templates; collaborate with internal and external designers to execute a consistent brand look that, along with voice and tone, captures the essence of the KUOW brand;
Review branded materials from other departments to ensure they meet standards and provide feedback for revisions as necessary.
Support for In-Person Events (20%)
KUOW's marketing team produces 12-18 in-person events per year, including partnerships with visiting NPR shows. This position will assist with both promotion of the events and on-site support on event day.
Tasks include but are not limited to:
Produce creative assets for in-person events, including print programs, signage, program presentations, and pre/post event emails;
Provide on-site support at KUOW events, including assisting with load/unload, front-of-house setup, tabling, and guest check-in;

SUCCESS PROFILE
Knowledge of:
Basic marketing concepts and best practices, especially social media, email, and digital advertising mediums.
Microsoft Office Suite tools, especially PowerPoint (or comparable software)
Building, testing, sending, and automating marketing emails via an email service provider (such as MailChimp, HubSpot, Constant Contact, Marketing Cloud, Marketo, or comparable software)
Ability to:
Work independently and as part of a team while adhering to deadlines
Work within brand style guides, both for visual and written materials
Develop and pitch creative concepts for marketing campaigns
Independently create strong written and graphic content (from templates)
Edit graphics within design tools such as Canva and Adobe Creative Suite (or comparable software)
Communicate proactively and effectively with both in-person and remote individuals, engage in courageous conversations, and maintain trust and respect in challenging situations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree and 2 or more years of experience in marketing, communications, or fundraising roles.
Knowledge of marketing concepts and best practices

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Duties may occasionally require evening and weekend work when necessary to meet critical deadlines and/or to attend station events.
Position is eligible for hybrid telework.
KUOW has an open workspace environment, which may result in additional or higher levels of noise and visual distractions.
Position must be able to attend in-person KUOW events at local venues. Transportation/carpools will be coordinated for any events outside of Seattle.
Position must be able to assist with loading and unloading materials for in-person events (ability to lift / move 25 pounds)
