Job Description

The Legal Coordination Specialist will play a vital role in ensuring the company's compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including legal counsel and regulatory agencies. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of auto finance servicing and demonstrate proficiency in legal documentation, compliance, and coordination tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance and Regulation:

Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local financial laws such as the Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) regulations.

Monitor regulatory changes and implement necessary adjustments in legal practices and documentation.

Loan Documentation:

Prepare, review, and maintain legal documents related to auto loans, including contracts, disclosures, and financing agreements.

Ensure all documentation meets legal and compliance standards.

Collections and Repossessions:

Oversee legal compliance in debt collection, repossession procedures, and deficiency balance recovery.

Maintain strict adherence to fair lending and consumer protection laws throughout the collection process.

Customer Communication:

Draft and send legal notices, respond to regulatory inquiries, and assist with customer escalations involving legal matters.

Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate and timely responses to legal and compliance questions.

Record-Keeping and Reporting:

Maintain accurate and organized records of loan agreements, payment histories, legal proceedings, and compliance reports.

Generate periodic reports for internal review and regulatory compliance audits.

Vendor and Legal Counsel Coordination:

Work with third-party agencies, attorneys, and regulatory bodies to resolve legal matters related to auto finance servicing.

Assist in coordinating legal responses and ensure that all parties involved are informed and aligned.

Skills, Education, and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent; bilingual skills are a plus.

Experience in Legal Studies, Business Administration, or related field.

Minimum 2 years of experience in legal coordination, compliance, or auto finance servicing.

Strong knowledge of TILA, FDCPA, CFPB regulations, and auto finance legal procedures.

Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

Proficiency in legal documentation and record-keeping software.

Working Conditions:

Full-time position with potential for remote work based on company policy.

Occasional travel for meetings and training as required.
