Summary This position serves as the Maintenance and Repair Supervisor for the Alexandria Veterans Affairs Healthcare System (AVAHCS). The AVAHCS covers 150+/- acres and approximately 720,000 gross building square footage and has five Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC) locations, Lafayette, Lake Charles, Jennings, Fort Johnson, and Natchitoches, Louisiana. This position works under the direct supervision of the Chief of Engineering. Responsibilities Duties include, but are not limited to: Assigns work orally, by email, and through work order systems utilizing site visits, building plans, blueprints, hand drawings and digital renderings as deemed necessary. Determines training needs and arranges for accomplishment of such training. Performs scheduled and unscheduled inspections of work in progress. Explains work requirements, methods, and procedures, instructs subordinates in new procedures, and provides advice when problems arise by recommending corrective action to subordinates and superiors. Develops both short- and long-range budgetary requirements for the unit, maintenance plans involving various @types of building construction and action plans for the installation, correction, and removal of industrial equipment. Investigates work related problems such as excessive costs or low productivity and determines causes; implements corrective actions within authority to resolve work problems; and recommend solutions to staffing problems, engineering requirements Works with NFPA standards to maintain safety for various patient care areas accomplish all tasks, appropriate technical data, blueprints, freehand sketches, work orders, verbal instructions and by using correct test equipment, tools, and protective clothing.
