Fractional Accounting Manager

Description We are looking for an experienced Fractional Accounting Manager to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Boston, Massachusetts. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in biotech or life sciences accounting who thrives in building systems and processes from the ground up. You will play a critical role in transitioning accounting operations in-house while ensuring compliance and accuracy across all financial activities.

Responsibilities:

Lead the transition of accounting operations from external vendors to internal systems, ensuring a seamless transfer.

Develop and implement robust accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls tailored to the biotech industry.

Manage daily accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.

Oversee month-end and year-end close processes to ensure all financial records are accurate and completed on time.

Prepare comprehensive financial statements and collaborate with auditors during audits.

Partner with cross-functional teams to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.

Implement and optimize accounting systems and tools to meet the needs of a growing biotech organization.

Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards.

Provide guidance and leadership to the accounting team, fostering a culture of efficiency and accountability. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.

Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably within biotech or life sciences.

Demonstrated success in transitioning accounting operations in-house.

Strong understanding of US GAAP and financial reporting requirements.

Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar platforms.

Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
