Summary
The Production Technical Operator position consists of troubleshooting aerospace product at both a unit level and Circuit Card Assembly level. When troubleshooting circuit card assemblies, the Production Technical Operator is looking at failed circuits, isolating the fault down to a component level, then dispositioning the repair procedures. Candidates need to be strong with analog and/or digital electronics and embedded systems, with an emphasis on analog. The Production Technical Operator will need to be capable of using standard electrical lab and test equipment. Familiarity with more advanced troubleshooting tools is a plus. The Production Technical Operator will also support our manufacturing floor as needed to ensure that product continues to move through the process, and play a vital part of instilling our company's value of maintaining a lean culture. This includes constantly looking for continuous improvement opportunities.
Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed full-time on site.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
Must possess specific certifications as defined by site operations.
More advanced manufacturing system knowledge.
Ability to identify problems in the assembly process and/or with assembly components and to further, address such problems.
Possesses knowledge of product quality, soldering specifications and SMT processing systems.
Experience and prior or current certification of IPC-J-STD soldering (class level 3).
Ability to set up, operate, and maintain assembly and hand soldering of equipment and tools.
Knowledge and understanding of board assembly process and product process flow.
Ability to manufacture / test products with best methods or procedures in situations not covered by standard processes, procedures and methods.
Has ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of internal and external customers.
Knowledge of computer applications and the ability to accurately perform tasks in the applications appropriate to the area e.g.: Word, Lotus Notes, Excel and Documentation control systems.
Physical Demands
Duties of this position are performed in a manufacturing environment with occasional to frequent exposure to elements such as noise, dust, chemicals, operating machinery, temperature extremes, etc.
Duties of the position require periodic light physical effort and exertion including prolonged repetitive motions requiring manual dexterity, precise hand/eye coordination, sitting in confined workspaces, using tools and equipment, as well as, moving and handling materials.
Duties may require periodic heavy manual labour including lifting objects.
Duties require extended periods of sustained visual concentration on detailed documentation and product assemblies.
Above demands are to be carried out within the local existing Health and Safety guidelines.
Typical Experience
Minimum of 5 years experneice with advanced skills to include:
Advanced-level technical skills in PCB assembly, soldering, and troubleshooting, electronical control units with knowledge of technical requirements and ability to read schematics
Electronics component level troubleshooting and instrument familiarity (analog and digital) on a wide range of product
Ability to interpret technical specifications and electronic schematics
Ability to communicate and work well within a technical team
Ability to learn and work in a fast pace environment
Typical Education
High school diploma and/or has taken additional courses after high school, or an equivalent combination of education, experience and/or commitment towards further additional education
Educational Requirements may vary by geography
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Associates Degree in EE, EET, ECE, ECET or Bachelor's Degree in EET or EE, or equivalent technical degree program. Will consider experenice in leiu of education (>5 years expererience)
Lean Manufacturing experience
Proficient in isolating electronic failures to root cause
Ability to interpret and apply specifications, standards, and customer requirements
Proficiency coordinating and organizing multiple activities in a team environment
Advanced-level technical skills, knowledge of technical requirements, and system flows skills relevant to job/area of work
