JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE: Under the direction of the Department Supervisor, the Master Machinist performs machining operations necessary to complete products per specifications. The finished product must meet or exceed customer specifications and production quality standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; other duties may be assigned by the Department Supervisor
Follow all housekeeping procedures. Comply with all quality and safety rules and regulations
Set up, prove out and operate a variety of CNC and/or Manual equipment including but not limited to lathes, machining centers- vertical or horizontal, mills performing close tolerance production work. Must be knowledgeable in process trouble shooting and process prove outs. Must be able to use precision inspection equipment to inspect work per drawings and specifications.
Requires knowledge of machine programs and have the ability to edit/revise as needed to maintain part specifications, along with the ability to prove out new programs. Must be able to read and understand complex drawings and be familiar with geometric tolerances. Must be able to select and set up tooling for jobs
Will be required to perform all TPM duties on equipment as needed, along with performing 6S duties Must be able to work with minimal supervision to accomplish work
Perform manual dimensional layout of parts using appropriate tools and gauges
Ability to interpret Machining Drawings
Participate on cross-functional teams to address and resolve quality issues and problems, and to ensure the continuous, on-going improvement of processes and methods.
Organize and complete as necessary the required paperwork
Must conform to labor standards on a consistent basis. Per the union contract, the employee shall maintain productivity efficiencies in line with expectations.
Ability to work closely with other employees including engineering on a daily basis in a professional manner.
Trained and familiar with the use of cranes and fork lift

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: responsible related experience, or a combination of education and experience. Must be able to understand and read complicated Engineering drawings.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, blueprints, engineering drawings, and procedure manuals.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply rational thinking to understanding and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Requires the ability to operate various precision measuring and testing equipment.
