Job Title: Structural Welder

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Structural Welder proficient in multi-pass welding across all positions, utilizing the SMAW process. You will be responsible for fusing inserts and welding carbon steel, stainless steel, and copper nickel pipe, employing both SMAW and GTAW processes. Expertise in mirror welding using these methods is also required. Familiarity with OSHA regulations pertinent to the shipbuilding industry is essential.

Responsibilities

Read and interpret blueprints and drawings to plan layout and procedures.

Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.

Set up components for welding according to specifications, including cutting material with powered saws to match measurements.

Properly use fillet gauges, butt gauges, and a six-inch scale.

Heat materials using an Oxygen/Propane Heating Torch.

Essential Skills

Minimum of 2-5 years' experience in TIG and STICK pipe welding.

Proficiency in SMAW and TIG welding processes.

Ability to weld carbon and stainless steel using various techniques including electric, gas, and arc.

Must pass the SMAW 6-inch weld test.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience with pipe welding in industrial settings.

Knowledge of shutdown procedures and safety protocols.

Work Environment

Work on diverse construction projects throughout Hampton Roads, including the Ameresco job in Norfolk. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 6 AM to 4 PM, with occasional Saturdays.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Suffolk, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $35.00/hr.
