Summary
Act as the assistant manager under the direction of the QA Manager. Support Quality Assurance Manager in the supervision and coordination of all activity in Quality Assurance. Ensure operations are carried out in an efficient, effective, and safe manner
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
Oversee the operation in the QA administrative area and develop processes to increase efficiency and ensure that finished products meet all specifications and quality standards.
Monitor all work in progress to ensure compliance with production/repair work orders.
Proficient in the use of the Atec ERP System to effectively monitor work in progress and evaluate QA Inspection performance.
Monitor/balance time keeping for assigned personnel to ensure accurate collection of labor activities.
Study and understand production schedules, work orders and estimated labor hour requirements for completion of job assignments.
Adhere to production schedule and communicate in a timely manner on any issues that impact the established production schedule.
Establish and adjust work procedures and priorities to meet production schedules.
Support Quality Control and Electrical Inspection priority parts list and expedite parts through Quality when required.
Evaluate inspection equipment, tooling, fixturing, programming and personnel requirements for each work order to ensure work order is executed effectively.
Ensure Inspection personnel understand the inspection equipment, tooling, fixturing, and programming requirements for each assigned work order to ensure effective execution.
Interpret oral and written instructions, specifications, engineering drawings or inspection instructions to determine quality and reliability standards and help provide guidance to all members of the Quality Assurance work section on these items.
Supervise Quality Engineers, Document Specialists, Admin assistants, and Inspectors / Technicians and provide guidance and feedback when needed.
Ensure optimum utilization of equipment and space by coordinating the layout of areas, such as storage areas, inspection equipment, tooling, fixtures, and all other items required to promote an effective and efficient workflow.
Maintain safety and cleanliness in QA Inspection areas.
Research and recommend improvements in inspection techniques, in-process inspection methods, equipment, training, workflow processes, working conditions (safety), work instructions, etc. to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the QA Inspection operations.
Identify and conduct personnel training needed to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of production operations and to ensure production of Atec products is performed to established quality standards.
Effectively communicate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Production, Quality and Project Managers for clarification of engineering, test, manufacturing, and production instructions.
Analyze technical issues as they arise, identify root cause of the issue, and formulate and implement an effective corrective action.
Maintain Preventative Maintenance Program for all inspection equipment, tooling and fixturing to maintain operational effectiveness.
Shop Packet (Work Order) and PO approval including all revisions, when required.
NCMR review and approval, when required.
Compose and @type routine correspondence that relates to Quality.
Update Quality Assurance Work Instructions, manuals, and procedures as needed.
Manage internal, customer and third-party audit programs.
Conduct periodic quality training / review meetings.
Temporary assignment to various Atec facilities may be required as needed to support Atec operations.
Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
Ensure activities are conducted in accordance with Atec International Standards Organization (AS9100/ISO) policies and correct and report any deviations to appropriate area manager/supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibilities
May be assigned to supervise operations in any area of the Quality Assurance department. Is directly responsible for following instructions of the department VP and the QA Manager and ensuring that section activities and directives are followed. Assume QA Managers responsibilities in their absence.
Monitor personnel to ensure activities are conducted in accordance with Atec AS9100/ISO policies, and correct and report any deviations to appropriate area manager.
AS9100/ISO Specific Duties
Be familiar with and understand Atec Quality Policy and company objectives.
Understand required AS9100/ISO specific Procedures and Work Instructions.
Complete all records required by Procedures and Work Instructions.
Participate in Atec Improvement Machine (AIM) as appropriate.
Participate in AS9100/ISO training as required.
Cooperate with Auditors.
Report any deviations to appropriate area manager/supervisor.
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and minimum of ten (10) years of work experience in a machine shop/electronics manufacturing/ assembly environment
Proficient with GD&T
Proficient with AS9100 QMS and Quality Reporting Requirements
Proficient with root cause and corrective action, alternate inspection frequency plans, process control methods and production part approval process
Analysis, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
Good oral and written communication skills
Excellent organization skills with the ability to multiple-task and obtain results working within strict time frames
Proficient in MS Office software including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Ability to read and interpret Engineering drawings and Specifications
Knowledge of operating measurement equipment
Knowledge of Manufacturing processes

Physical Demands
Employees are frequently required to stand; walk, sit; use hands to work with inspection equipment; reach overhead with hands and arms; stoop, bend, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
Specific vision abilities include close vision, and color vision, good eyesight, by lenses if necessary.
Vision testing is required.
