Placement: Contract to hire

Job Description

As a Railcar Repairman, you will be responsible for performing 60% mechanical work and 40% welding work to repair rail cars. This role requires physical strength and a willingness to work in a dirty environment. While flux core welding experience is preferred, it is not mandatory, as training is provided based on your weld test results.

Responsibilities

Work safely around heavy equipment, railcars, and railroad tracks.

Coordinate and complete all railcar repairs and maintenance.

Interpret job work orders and follow blueprints/schematics to perform required repairs.

Utilize basic mechanical skills and build knowledge of machines and tools to weld, cut, and gouge.

Notify of any materials and/or equipment required to ensure completion of job tasks.

Follow all safety rules, keep work area clean, and comply with all Environmental, Health, and Safety policies.

Ensure FRA, AAR, and customer quality standards are met.

Perform any other duties as assigned to complete the task.

Essential Skills

Strong mechanical aptitude.

Ability to weld.

Proficiency with hand tools, air tools, and other mechanical tools.

Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with mechanical or railcar work.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience in torch cutting, flux core welding, grinding, and mechanical assembly.

Ability to stand for long periods and lift repetitively throughout the day.

Capability to work in both hot and cold environments.

This position requires working in all weather conditions, with hot summers and cold winters. The environment is very industrial, requiring you to be comfortable with dirty and physically demanding work.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
