Key Responsibilities:

Create, maintain, and update records, files, and databases, ensuring accuracy and compliance with agency and state policies.

Provide helpful, professional, and timely responses to inquiries, referring questions to appropriate staff when necessary.

Accurately input and maintain data in electronic systems, databases, and spreadsheets.

Monitor and update records or databases to ensure that information is current and accurate.

Ensure that supplies and materials are ordered and available to meet operational needs.

Qualifications:

Must be able to draft clear, concise, and professional correspondence.

Ability to interact with the public and staff in a professional and approachable manner.

Ability to maintain organized records and files.

Ability to assess situations, troubleshoot problems, and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.

Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and in compliance with state and federal privacy laws.

Knowledgeable of office software applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and familiarity with office equipment (e.g., copiers, fax machines, phone systems).

Proactive in identifying opportunities for process improvement and streamlining office operations.

The Advertised HR Specialist position is a key administrative support role within the Arkansas State Police and is responsible for performing a variety of office duties to ensure efficient office operations and support for agency staff and programs. This position involves handling administrative tasks, coordinating schedules, managing documentation, and assisting with customer service. The Administrative Specialist will work closely with staff members, supervisors, and the public to maintain smooth and effective office workflows.

Job Summary

The HR Specialist is responsible for managing and administering human resources functions within various state agencies in Arkansas. This role ensures that HR policies and procedures are implemented effectively, supporting the recruitment, development, and retention of qualified staff. The position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Primary Responsibilities

Assist with recruitment efforts, including posting job vacancies, screening applications, and coordinating interviews. Support benefits administration, including enrollment, eligibility, and claims processing. Maintain accurate employee records and ensure timely and accurate payroll processing. Provide customer service to employees regarding HR policies, procedures, and benefits. Assist in the administration of performance management programs. Process requests related to employee leaves of absence, worker's compensation, and other HR-related matters. Ensure compliance with state and federal HR regulations and policies. Prepare HR reports, documentation, and other records as required.

Knowledge and Skills

Comprehensive understanding of HR practices, policies, and procedures. In-depth knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations governing HR activities. Familiarity with recruitment, hiring, and onboarding processes. Awareness of employee benefits programs and administration. Aptitude for maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information. Capability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.

Minimum Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent. One year of experience in HR management, employee relations, or a related field.

Licensure/Certifications
