Rincon Consultants is excited to seek a self-motivated Attorney with environmental law experience specializing in litigation and Land Use to join our growing in-house legal team. Our legal team works closely with Rincon's team members, both in our business operations and with our environmental professionals, many of whom are recognized leaders in their fields. Our goal is to provide responsive, high-quality services and products that further enhance the value and reputation of the company while ensuring our teams are supported.
As an attorney with Rincon, you would be responsible for providing legal support, research, and risk analysis for environmental projects in a variety of areas, ensuring our teams understand the current legislation and case law, and recognizing and understanding areas of potential risk and liability with a solution-oriented approach. The position also requires collaboration with the General Counsel on a variety of projects and offers a significant opportunity for growth in both the environmental sphere as well as in other areas of overall legal support for the company.
While this role may offer flexible work arrangements that can include a mix of in-office and remote work, our changing business needs will ultimately determine our level of remote-work flexibility. Additionally, to promote in-person collaboration and client teaming, we prioritize hiring those who reside within 50 miles of a Rincon office which currently includes: Carlsbad, Fresno, Los Angeles, Monterey, Oakland, Palm Springs, Riverside, Sacramento, San Luis Obispo, San Diego, San Jose, Santa Barbara, and Ventura.?
Overview of Key Duties and Responsibilities
Work closely with our environmental teams to provide project support and risk assessment
Research and provide updates on relevant legislation and case law
Review environmental documents
Contract review, management, and support
Assist with risk assessment and the development of strategies to minimize legal exposure across the business
Assist the General Counsel in legal matters that arise
This Job Might Be for You if You Have the Following:
A proactive and solution-oriented approach to legal issues.
A genuine desire to keep improving and learning new skills
Law degree from an accredited school and admitted to the California State Bar
7+ years of experience, litigation and/or contracts experience a plus
At least 3+ years CEQA/NEPA, and other environmental experience
Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively with others at all levels of the organization
Excellent research and writing capabilities
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail

The base salary range for this full-time position is $155,000-$185,000 per year, plus a generous benefits program. At Rincon, our salary ranges are based on market median of similar jobs, according to third party salary benchmark surveys. The base pay that is actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
