Position Description: Provide day-to-day operations, sustainment, interoperability, and integration of current and future MILSATCOM, Protected MILSATCOM, and cryptographic systems' specific architectures and capabilities. Identify and resolve current operational, and proposed future, MILSATCOM and Protected MILSATCOM systems' architectures capability gaps, interoperability and integration challenges and potential problem areas. Identify, develop, and implement proactive operational procedures and maintenance measures to ensure the continued effective operation and interoperability of terminals and associated equipment. Perform assessments and analyses on proposed system modifications, enhancements, maintenance, and advanced program and technology insertion plans to evaluate potential impacts on current and future systems, operational concepts, system architectures, and capabilities. Provide on-site technical assistance as required to troubleshoot, resolve, and repair extremely technical and highly complex issues involving Extremely High Frequency (EHF) and Protected MILSATCOM terminals, architectures, and associated ancillary baseband, cryptography, and user interface equipment.
Essential Responsibilities:
Directly support the Government Chief Engineer by providing expert-level MILSATCOM and Protected MILSATCOM systems-level engineering guidance, technical consultation, and sustainment advisory services for everyday technical activities.
Provide expert-level technical guidance and hands-on assistance to the helpdesk as necessary to troubleshoot and resolve extremely technical, highly complex problems and issues involving MILSATCOM and Protected MILSATCOM terminals.
Provide expert level operational architecture and engineering support for interoperable AEHF capabilities supporting International Partner (IP), North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), and IP Coalition projects.
Perform technical reviews of the interoperable architectures of NATO and allied partners with respect to cryptographic security requirements, components, interoperability, integration, and associated processes.
Assist the COMSEC Responsible Officer (CRO) with the analyses, validation, and documentation relative to MILSATCOM and Protected MILSATCOM KeyMat requirements, data flow, cryptographic architectures, and associated modifications.
Provide specialized engineering support and technical guidance with the development and execution of systems integration, backwards compatibility testing, and validation and verification of MILSATCOM and Protected MILSATCOM systems.
Provide hands-on, on-site field technical engineering and maintenance assistance to systems operators and maintainers within the Continental United States (CONUS) and Outside Continental United States (OCONUS).
Provide assistance and recommendations relative to new capabilities, new terminal designs, allied architectures, hardware, and software modifications, cryptographic KeyMat and equipment, and command and control features.
Provide MILSATCOM operational expertise to conduct analysis and make recommendations to support senior-level decision concerning the development, integration, and transition to new and/or modified systems.
Assist satellite system experts, operational users, item managers, equipment specialists, and other engineers through the provision of expert-level MILSATCOM and Protected MILSATCOM systems engineering, technical, and logistics advisory.
Ensure the concepts, capabilities, requirements, and integrated architectures of proposed joint-service and inter-allied MILSATCOM and Protected MILSATCOM operations are properly characterized into existing and future systems.
Assist with the planning, development, and integration requirements to maintain diverse strategic systems integration and interoperability test laboratory environment utilizing external platform-specific assets.
Develop and maintain functional tests assets and system cryptographic architectures to ensure they support national guidance and will meet the MILSATCOM and Protected MILSATCOM operational community requirements.
Assist with planning and conduct feasibility analyses relative to system cryptographic architecture(s) and associated processes, plans, and procedures required to test, verify, and validate proposed modifications.
Prepare, review, and provide recommendations for a variety of system documentation, modeling plans, implementation plans, Concept of Operations (ConOps), Specifications, Interface Control Documents (ICD's).
Conduct site surveys, perform technical analyses and assessments, and provide recommendations relative to the requirements, design, site renovations, and associated schedules.
Assist with the early detection and resolution of logistics related problems affecting unit operational and materiel readiness and prepare and provide operational site logistic assessments.
Provide sustainment systems architectural engineering support relating to the operational employment of the capabilities and functions of the MILSATCOM and Protected MILSATCOM constellations, equipment, and missions.
What We Require:
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. Government. Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens. In addition, applicants who accept a conditional offer of employment may be subject to government security investigation(s) and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Active DoD Top Secret clearance with the ability to possess/maintain DoD TS/SCI.
Demonstrated expertise in Military and Space operations, Protected MILSATCOM, MILSATCOM, and COMSEC Cryptographic systems.
Experience with providing strategic advice, technical guidance, analysis, and recommendations.
