Description

A company in Santa Clarita is looking for Staff Accountant to help the finance and accounting team. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in accounting processes, transactional workflows, and accounting theory. This position will focus on managing and reconciling accounting records, performing catch-up tasks in sales tax compliance, and ensuring the integrity of accounts receivable (AR) reserves and general ledger (GL) transactions. The Staff Accountant will play a key role in contributing to the organization's relaunch efforts by improving financial reporting and reconciliations while supporting overall financial accuracy and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting Processes and Transactions

Manage accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) workflows, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Record and post journal entries (JEs) appropriately based on an advanced understanding of accounting theory, including revenue and expense allocation.

Tax Compliance

Enter and maintain certifications in the system.

Reconcile and catch up on sales tax compliance, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to deadlines.

General Ledger and System Management

Work within the GL system to reconcile accounts and clean up aged items.

Perform reconciliations to improve reporting and bring financial data to manageable levels, supporting the company's relaunch efforts.

Accounts Receivable Reserves

Maintain and analyze AR reserves, ensuring accurate reflection of outstanding liabilities.

Collaborate with leadership to strategize improvements to the AR reserves process.

Reconciliations and Reporting

Conduct reconciliations for financial records to ensure consistency and alignment with business goals.

Support the creation of detailed financial reports, leveraging insights from GL transactions and reconciliations.

Requirements

Required Skills and Qualifications:

3+ years -minimum experience in a Staff Accountant role with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting.

Accounting Expertise: Advanced understanding of accounting theory and concepts, including where to record revenue vs. expenses.

Technical Mastery: Experience with GL systems like and tax systems.

Transactional Accuracy: Proven ability to manage JEs and transactional workflows.

Analytical Skills: Experience with reconciliation processes and financial reporting.

ERP Proficiency: Knowledge and practical experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) software
