Job Summary
The Sustainability Lead is responsible for promoting and evolving the Lean Management System throughout the Operating Company (OpCo)/Business Unit (BU) to ensure a competitive advantage for AEP. The focus of the role is teaching and coaching Continuous Improvement methodologies/Lean Management System to employees in order to improve processes and performance., The Sustainability Lead uses change management frameworks and methods to influence the organization. This position contributes to the OpCo/BU Lean Management System Community of Practice and collaborates with others beyond their immediate area., Accountable for implementing and driving process and productivity improvements and Lean implementation throughout the opco/ business unit and delivering on aggressive established operational and financial targets optimizing: O&M, Capital, Revenue, and other cost categories. In addition, responsible for building capabilities, engaging employees, and driving cultural health improvements in the organization.

What you'll do:
You'll be promoting the organization's awareness and knowledge of Continuous Improvement (CI)/Lean by:
Facilitating CI/Lean Management System capability building and problem solving sessions using the Standard Work provided by AEP's Lean Support Office where available, Coaching CI/Lean Practitioners to facilitate Lean Management System capability building and problem solving sessions using the Standard Work provided by AEP's Lean Support Office where available, Coaching leaders on Lean Leader Behaviors and Leader Standard Work so they can enhance their organizations' problem solving and continuous improvement competencies.
You'll be evolving the organization's ability to achieve a competitive advantage from the Lean Management System by:
You'll be applying appropriate Change Management frameworks to develop an OpCo/BU-specific Lean Management System Roadmap, Measuring the OpCo/BU's lean maturity against the OPCO/BU-specific Lean Management System Roadmap and the broader AEP Lean Management System Roadmap, Participating in both formal and informal partnerships with people and organizations that promote the Lean Management System, Assisting OpCo/BU leaders with measurement strategies that enable the rapid identification of problems and improvement opportunities, Assisting the OPCO/BU leaders with countermeasures to address problems and improvement opportunities.
What we are looking for:
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Business, engineering, computer science or related field plus four years experience in process improvement, business analysis, project management or equivalent, OR
Associate's degree plus six (6) years' related experience in process improvement, business analysis, project management or equivalent, OR
High school diploma with eight (8) or more years related experience in process improvement, business analysis, project management or equivalent experience Computer skills required.
Other skills required:
Strong communication and relationship building skills are a must.
Passion for process improvements and creation of standard work and applying consistent methodologies.
