Description of Job
The Mail Serviceswork unit exists to provide the department with the following mail services: Receive, sort, open, and distribute incoming mail, packages, and undeliverable/returnable mail; fold, hand enclose, package, meter, and mail outbound mail via USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc.; manage loading dock deliveries; provide official copies of tax returns to taxpayers; fulfill requests for tax forms and tax booklets; and administer the weekly document shred process for the department's central locations.
The purpose ofthis positionis to work as part of a team providing the range of services offered by Mail Services relating to both incoming and outgoing mail. The primary focus for this role will be the pick-up and transport mail, packages, supplies, intra- and inter-departmental mail, etc., to/from USPS, other state agencies, and department facilities, including safely operating a fleet vehicle.
This position will be expected to be cross trained and may be asked to perform any of these functions:
Prepare outgoing mail, including folding and stuffing letters, and metering outgoing mail.
Receive, log, and track dock deliveries, including express mail, and other deliveries of packages and letters, including notifying recipients and managing pick ups.
Run reports and/or track work activities for regular office reporting requirements.
Open and determine how to distribute all mail received from Post office PO Boxes, postal mail delivery, DPA (Pueblo), and intra- and inter-departmental sources.
Process return mail and return warrants.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience Only: Two (2) years of work experience in a professional office setting conducting such tasks as:
Interfacing with a variety of people from many levels within the organization and community.
Mail and package delivery to other offices.
Drive a state fleet vehicle between office locations in the Denver metro area.
Lift boxes weighing up to 50 pounds regularly throughout an 8-hour work shift.
Regular, daily work responsibilities utilizing computer systems, scanners, printers, copiers, fax machines and other technologies such as mailing equipment.
Entering confidential customer information into a program or database (customer records).
Reviewing and comparing data for accuracy and completeness. Also, gathering specified information and compiling routine reports.
Education and Experience: A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned (as outlined above) equal to two (2) years.
Necessary Requirements:
Valid Driver's License with a safe driving record.
Ability to lift boxes weighing up to 50 pounds regularly throughout an 8-hour work shift.

Experience working in a mail center or mailroom
Experience operating a postage meter
State experience in a mail processing role
Experience driving a box truck with a lift gate and/or a cargo van

Conditions of Employment with the CDOR:
Employees are in a position of public trust in the performance of their job duties and must operate in a manner that maintains the highest standards of honesty, integrity, and public confidence.
As a condition of employment with the CDOR, all personnel must file all necessary Colorado Individual Income Tax (CIIT) returns and pay tax obligations, therefore all employees must undergo a pre-employment evaluation of their tax records/accounts to ensure compliance with this policy. Final candidates must also complete a successful background investigation and reference check prior to appointment. Certain positions based on duties may require scheduled background investigations.
Pursuant to the Universal Driving Standards Policy (https://osc.colorado.gov/sites/osc/files/documents/Universal%20Policy%20Driving%20Standards.pdf) , any worker who will be expected to drive a State-owned vehicle is responsible for maintaining a safe driving record and a valid driver license prior to driving any State-owned vehicle.
To be compliant with the new fleet vehicle policy, Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs) will be pulled for review for workers who:
Have an assigned State fleet vehicle
Are required to operate a vehicle as part of the position
Utilize a State fleet vehicle as a pool vehicle
