The purpose of this internship is to prepare college students for entry into the business world by providing a thorough understanding of the various functions of the Zebra Technologies organization. The program is designed to provide you with a full experience so that you can fully envision a career with Zebra. You will be positioned for success with training, exposure to all parts of the business, social activities, a professional mentor relationship and development sessions to help you discover your own performance edge!
The Material Science team is a centralized team that provides engineering support to all the BU's through mechanical analysis, thermal analysis and failure analysis. We support mechanical engineers at any phase of the program by addressing all problems with a holistic mindset.

Responsibilities:
Assist in Failure Analysis: Support the team in conducting root cause analysis of polymer components and processes, learning to identify and address failure points
Benchmarking Support: Assist in competitive benchmarking studies of polymer materials and processes used in the industry
Teardown and Analysis: Learn to analyze and perform teardowns of polymer assemblies and components to identify potential areas of failure and improvement
Tooling and Moldflow Exposure: Gain exposure to tooling and Moldflow processes, understanding their role in enhancing design and manufacturing
Team Collaboration: Participate in cross-functional meetings to understand the design and selection processes of polymer materials for electronic devices
Develop planning, organizational and leadership skills
Increase technology knowledge and skills
Develop team-based work proficiencies
Develop interpersonal skills to connect with day-to-day business contacts through follow up activities
THIS IS A HYBRID INTERNSHIP LOCATED IN HOLTSVILLE, NY. THE EXPECTATION IS AT LEAST 3 DAYS OF IN-OFFICE ATTENDANCE.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
Current enrollment in an undergraduate/graduate degree program in Materials Science, Materials Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
Must have an anticipated graduation date between 2026-2027 for undergraduate students and 2026-2030 for graduate students
Must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with polymers
Hands on or lab experience
Exceptional critical thinking skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, & PowerPoint)
Intellectual curiosity with a strong desire to learn and grow
Proven leadership and excellence in professional, academic, and/or extracurricular experiences
Ability to collaborate as part of a team
Effective verbal and written communication skills

Salary: USD 28.50 - USD 38.00 Hourly
Salary offered will vary depending on your location, job-related skills, knowledge, and experience.
Additionally, all Zebra roles are eligible for cash incentive programs. For example, sales roles have additional opportunity to earn substantial variable compensation tied to quota achievement. In most other roles, the Zebra annual cash incentive program links Company and individual performance together. Some roles may also be eligible for long-term incentive equity awards.
