Full time (1.0 FTE) Schedule: Primarily Monday - Friday from 8:00 am -
5:00 pm POSITION SUMMARY The Operating Room Manager, under the direction
of the Director of Surgery, provides leadership, direction, supervision
and coordination of the operational activities in the Operating Room and
Sterile Processing at Sauk Prairie Healthcare. The Operating Room
Manager is a registered nurse who has responsibility for the management
of patient care, nursing personnel, surgical technicians, sterile
processing technicians and unit operations. This individual helps ensure
the delivery of high-quality services, manages resources and people,
quality and performance improvement and serves as a role-model for
SPH\'s values and mission. The Operating Room Manager may provide direct
patient care as needed and maintains an expert knowledge base for
surgical practice. This position consults with staff to monitor clinical
practice, works with staff to effect change, and performs customer
service. POSITION TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES Clinical Practice and
Service Delivery: Serves as a role model, demonstrating effective
patient care, leadership, and professional behavior. Provides support in
the environment to facilitate excellent surgical practice and other
supporting roles. Promotes and supports the nursing vision, as well as
unit-based mission, values, standards, and goals. Facilitates true
collaboration, effective communication and respect of diverse
perspectives through role-modeling and coaching clinical staff and
members of the interprofessional team. Coordinate and collaborate with
providers, leaders, and clinical staff. Functions as a clinical expert
while ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory standards and
incorporating research findings into practice. Works with director to
maintain and update policies as needed either for accreditation or due
to changes in best practices. Interprets policies and procedures for
staff members. Facilitates and expedites patient flow to ensure that
patients receive appropriate and timely care. Provides direct patient
care as needed to support surgical staff, include occasionally providing
on-call support. Guides surgical staff in the development of a plan of
care that is culturally sensitive and honors the uniqueness of each
patient and family. People Management: Manages day-to-day staffing and
resources based on unit-based guidelines in a changing environment by
allocating resources to respond to dynamic changes in patient census and
acuity. Provides guidance to clinical staff on patient assignments with
continuity of care and knowing the patient as a core value in addition
to facilitating the development of clinical staff Manages evaluating and
hiring of staff that are a cultural fit to the organization and
department. Manage scheduling and approving requests from clinical
staff. Provide coaching, counseling, development, performance
evaluations, payroll functions, and recognition to staff with support
from team leads. Develops education and training for support staff and
works with Director to integrate these groups in the larger
interprofessional team. Promotes and facilitates the development of
interdisciplinary relationships with other members of the care team.
Professional Development: Participates in applicable professional
organizations and provides support to staff with identifying and
participating in professional development activities. Seeks feedback
from his/her respective director and other colleagues. Identifies
opportunities to continue to develop leadership skills and expertise.
Provides developmentally appropriate coaching and clinical consultation
to clinical staff. Project Management: Provides leadership and
participates in unit-based projects. Promotes and assists with the
implementation of clinical practice changes and quality initiatives on
the patient care unit and sterile processing. Engages surgical staff in
the implementation and evaluation of clinical practice changes on the
patient care unit and sterile processing. Resource Management: Works
with the director to develop capital and operating budgets. Identifies
and participates in the resolution of recurring operational
deficiencies, focuses on improving workflow and eliminating waste both
within the department and between hospital departments. Ensures optimal
use of supplies, space, and equipment through observation and education.
Monitors fiscal reports in collaboration with the director. Quality,
Safety, and Performance Improvement: Engages in quality and safety
rounding to ensure CMS and other regulatory and accreditation standards
are met. Assists director with patient experience, staff engagement and
service excellence initiatives. Identifies and successfully addresses
opportunities for improving operations, monitoring outcomes, and
providing feedback when needed. Identifies and reacts to patient safety
concerns and evaluates the impact of related responses. Addresses
patient safety event reports and analyzes strategies for appropriate
follow-up. Participates in developing and implementing organizational
strategies to improve patient transitions of care. Works collaboratively
with interdepartmental groups such as the quality department and
infection control to perform process improvement initiatives and ensure
safety and quality checks and audits are in place. Assists in
development and implementing policies and procedures to guarantee
efficient and effective patient care. Serves on hospital committees as
assigned. POSITION REQUIREMENTS Education: Required: Bachelor\'s degree
nursing. Associate Degree in Nursing with applicable work experience
will be considered Preferred: Bachelors preferred. Experience: Required:
Minimum of 3 years operating room experience with demonstrated
progressive leadership. Preferred: Nursing leadership role. Licenses and
Registrations: Required: Valid Wisconsin RN License. Preferred: None
Certification(s): Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) with 3 months of
hire. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire.
Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) within the first two years from
