Summary/Objective: ?
Under broad supervision, develops curriculum and presents lessons in subject areas to children or adult clients of a state educational, rehabilitation, health care or correctional facility. Adapts teaching and instructional methods or uses specialized techniques to individualize instruction. Develops individual instruction plans, provides instruction, completes reports and tutors students.
Essential Functions:

Develops appropriate instructional plans and utilizes appropriate materials
Enforces administration policies and rules governing students
Guides and counsels students with adjustment and/or academic problems, or special academic interests
Maintains necessary reporting systems
Observe and evaluate students' work to determine progress and make suggestions for improvement
Performs job responsibilities with minimal supervision
Prepares and delivers progress reports
Prepares lesson plans and laboratory exercises
Presents instruction utilizing appropriate techniques
Provides individual attention and assistance to meet the varied needs and abilities of students
Serves as job expert or organization resource in assigned areas
Supervises and facilitates students' academic progress
Teaches and instructs through lectures, demonstrations and audio/visual aids

Preferred Education and Experience:
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the required education and experience, possess one or more of the following:
Certified educator with at least 10 years of verified teaching experience
Experience working directly with exceptional population in a classroom/educational setting.
Supervisory Responsibility:
None required for this position.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and smartphones.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions:
Incumbents working in this job perform duties in an office setting. This is a 40-hour workweek requirement. The position may involve managing a high-volume workload and demands a high level of accuracy while working with deadlines. Regular attendance is an important part of being successful in this position. Reasonable accommodation can be made available to qualified individuals upon request.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position occasionally requires long hours and weekend work.
Travel:
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and eligibility to obtain at least a Georgia teacher's associate professional fourth-year certificate; or current, appropriate Georgia teacher's fourth-year certificate in the area of assignment; or one (1) year of experience required at the lower level Instructor 2 (EDP021) or position equivalent.
